General Summary

This position is responsible for performing a variety of administration and operational support functions, with an emphasis on field payroll support.

Essential Job Accountabilities

  • Support payroll processing functions to ensure accurate timecard processing, certified payroll reporting, and compliance with Company policies, General Accepted Accounting Principles and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of the collective bargaining agreements to ensure accurate wage determination and compliance with union requirements.

  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of owner specifications, certified payroll requirements, and prevailing wage reporting processes.

  • Maintain an understanding of project scopes, classifications, and work activities to ensure accurate wage assignments and payroll reporting.

  • Maintain payroll-related records and supporting documentation including documenting, maintaining, and updating payroll procedures and workflows.

  • Provide administrative support to project managers, supervisors, and field personnel.

  • Assist with project startup and closeout activities, contract billings and A/R collections to ensure accuracy, timeliness and cost effectiveness.                                    

  • Perform various daily, weekly and monthly administrative functions such as accounts payable invoice processing, accounts receivable contract billings and collections, vendor setup, purchasing card reconciliation and document control to ensure accuracy and timely completion in accordance with established procedures and compliance with Company policy, General Accepted Accounting Principles and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.   

  • Provide purchasing, shipping, and receiving support for field operations as needed to ensure an efficient and productive work environment.

  • Provide administrative support for business development activities, including customer communications. Assist with internal audits and self-audits of all business functions to ensure that established internal controls are followed to maintain compliance with Granite’s policies and procedures, including all Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. 

  • This position is part of a dynamic team. The duties listed above are representative of the work performed but are not intended to be all-inclusive and may change based on business needs.


Education and Work Experience

  • High School diploma or Equivalent required

  • BA or Associates Degree or equivalent experience preferred

  • 2+ years of experience working with union payroll, certified payroll reporting, or prevailing wage projects preferred

  • Project administration and general business administration experience preferred.

  • Experience in the construction industry or project-based environments preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to review and maintain payroll, project, and compliance records for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of certified payroll reporting, prevailing wage requirements, and labor compliance practices preferred.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Experience using HeavyJob or similar timekeeping and payroll software preferred but not required.
  • JD Edwards World/One World or some ERP experience preferred but not required. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Ability to develop and maintain knowledge of company operations, organizational procedures, and business processes.
  • Must demonstrate ethical and professional business practices. 
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize work effectively, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work well under pressure and problem solve. 
  • Excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including data entry accuracy, navigation of multiple software systems, and efficient use of business applications.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Benefits may vary for positions located outside of the continental United States.

Base Salary Range: 

$50,498.00 - $75,748.00

Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
