Title: Landside Mechanic
Employment Type: NonExempt / Salary
Classification: Full Time (Travel Required)
Position Summary:
The Landside Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing company-owned equipment and vehicles used in landside operations. This role ensures all equipment is safe, reliable, and operating efficiently to support daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and support machinery (e.g., loaders, forklifts, service vehicles).
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and complete required service documentation.
- Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and parts inventory.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs as needed.
- Collaborate with operations personnel to identify equipment concerns and prioritize repairs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Assist with equipment inspections and regulatory compliance requirements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- 2+ years of experience as a mechanic, preferably with heavy equipment or diesel engines.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred (or ability to obtain).
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
