Job Summary
Shambaugh & Son is seeking a DOT Dispatcher / Logistics Coordinator to support the transportation and material delivery needs of our Fire Fabrication shops and construction projects. This role is responsible for coordinating over-the-road drivers, scheduling deliveries and pickups, ensuring timely movement of pipe, materials, equipment, and tools, and serving as the primary communication link between fabrication shops, jobsites, drivers, and vendors.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate and dispatch over-the-road drivers to support deliveries and pickups throughout the company's operating regions.
- Schedule and track pipe, materials, tools, vehicles, conex boxes, boom lifts, scissor lifts, and other equipment between fabrication shops and jobsites.
- Work closely with Fire Fabrication shop personnel to prioritize deliveries and meet project schedules.
- Monitor driver schedules, route changes, delays, and delivery status to ensure efficient transportation operations.
- Coordinate all oversize load permits, escorts, and transportation requirements as needed.
- Communicate daily with project teams, fabrication shops, drivers, and operations personnel regarding shipment schedules and transportation needs.
- Partner with the company garage to address vehicle maintenance issues and minimize equipment downtime.
- Utilize transportation resources efficiently and arrange outside carrier support when company resources are unavailable.
- Negotiate freight rates and transportation services with carriers and brokers when necessary.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, dispatch logs, and transportation documentation.
- Assist with driver onboarding, training, and compliance with company safety policies.
- Support investigations and documentation related to transportation incidents, accidents, or safety concerns.
- Continually evaluate transportation operations to improve efficiency, utilization, and customer service.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Business, Logistics, Transportation Management, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
- Previous experience in transportation dispatching, logistics coordination, fleet operations, or construction support preferred.
- Experience working with over-the-road drivers and transportation scheduling.
- Understanding of freight, routing, load planning, and equipment dispatching.
- Experience with AS400 is a plus.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work effectively with drivers, fabrication shops, project managers, and field personnel.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Dependability, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
- Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required
