The OpportunityWe are currently looking to hire a Sawmill Shift Supervisor for our manufacturing facilities in Mitsue Industrial Park. Job duties include:Supervising employees in a multi-trade environment to provide a high level of maintenance and uptime in all areas of the sawmillEnsuring that assigned work is completed in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring proper job and safety procedures are followedConducting daily mill inspections to monitor the condition of mill equipment / machinery and coordinates repairs and/or replacement of parts with the maintenance teamMaking recommendations to improve equipment reliability and cost saving measuresInvestigating any accidents or incidents involving plant equipment and makes recommendations for equipment and/or procedure redesign to prevent future accidents and/or incidentsAssisting in major equipment overhauls and maintenance shutdownsAddressing scheduling issues and conflicts; completes employee time sheets for proper payPerforming other duties as assigned by the Production ManagerWorks Monday - Thursday, rotating days and nightsWorking Conditions:Exposed to noise, dust, falling debris, moving machinery, weather extremes, splinters, slipping and tripping hazardsLifting heavy, awkward objects and climbing on equipment may be requiredRequired use of PPE appropriate for the task and working conditionsMust have:A solid work ethic, be eager to learn, and be a team playerGrade 12 or equivalentMinimum of 10 years’ experience working in the lumber industry; 3 years’ experience in sawmillsMinimum of 5 years' of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environmentA mechanical aptitude; millwright experience is an assetProficient written and verbal communication skillsBasic computer skills and experience using Microsoft OfficeExperience managing crews efficientlyCandidates If this position sounds like a fit for you, please apply directly through the portal.
