The Electrical Project Engineer II has expert experience with electrical design, coordination, installation, and commissioning of complex manufacturing equipment and processes. This role requires both power distribution and feed system experience as well as advanced manufacturing equipment and process controls experience.
Essential Duties
- Design complex control systems for carpet tile manufacturing processes
- Design power distribution schematics/systems for manufacturing equipment and processes while following NEC/NFPA codes and regulations
- Work with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to maintain, troubleshoot, and improve manufacturing equipment and processes
- Lead and participate on project teams delivering complex projects up $10MM
- Support the development and maintenance of engineering, maintenance and operational documentation
- Comply with all safety, environmental, and quality system standards, rules and policies
- Adhere to and improve internal engineering standards
- Continue to develop personal knowledge and skills while staying abreast of changes in technology
- Train and coach junior engineers, engineering technicians, and maintenance
- Provide project progress updates and reports as needed
Educational Requirements:
- BS in Electrical Engineering or higher
Experience & Skills
- Over 2 years’ experience as an electrical engineer in the manufacturing environment
- Experience in project management principles is required
- Design knowledge of power feed and distribution systems
- Design, programming, & troubleshooting skills with PLC’s (Rockwell); PC Controls; servo systems; AC/DC coordinate drive controls; HMI/MMI applications; network communications for drives, PLC, & HMI/MMI devices; VFD’s
- Demonstrated Schematic development
- Demonstrated competency in AutoCAD electrical to independently produce electrical schematic/designs
- Ability to develop requests for capital project funding and manage projects up to $500k independently
- Demonstrated leadership for teams with cross functional members
- Demonstrated analytical and reasoning skills to work through problem resolution via RCFA.
- Experience in data acquisition systems & reporting tools
- Excellence in written and verbal communications
- Advanced computer skills in Excel, Microsoft Project, etc. required
- Maintain housekeeping
- Comply with safety rules
- Comply with environmental regulations
- Be aware of departmental Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
- Willingness to learn and understand Interface's commitment to sustainability
- Perform other duties as assigned
