STAFF, SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Position Summary...

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.

What You Will Do :

• Lead the E2E delivery of Backend services, Data pipelines, AI workflows, access governance, secure web applications while collaborating with engineering, product, and legal business teams in an Agile environment. 
• Mentor engineers, design, build, test, and deploy cutting-edge automation solutions at Walmart scale — impacting millions of associates, customers, and stakeholders worldwide
• Design, develop and deliver agentic AI workflows, automation and access-governance systems for Walmart’s Legal technology ecosystem
• Work in a high-performing Agile team — sharing innovative ideas and collaborating across engineering, product, and legal stakeholder teams
• Partner with talented engineers and product visionaries to contribute to the vision and design of our web and mobile products
• Delivers platform capabilities within a sub-organization or technical area, including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks (for example, CI/CD, SDKs, model runtimes, feature stores).
• Aligns development efforts with roadmap milestones and domain priorities to ensure cohesive execution.
  Applies cloud-native architecture principles (for example, microservices, containers, automation) to achieve scalability, resilience, and agility across systems.
• Proficiency in building dynamic, reusable Data Pipelines and data technologies including Spark, Scala, GCP, Airflow, Big Query, Hudi, Cassandra, Kafka, Elastic Search etc
• Perform root cause analysis on applications to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for process improvement
• Analyse, test, and validate programs before formal launch to ensure flawless, production-grade performance
• Develop and enforce software security best practices — particularly around access governance, data privacy, and secure sharing of sensitive legal information
• Measure and improve product, operational, and portfolio performance using well-defined metrics and KPIs
• Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the broader tech community
• Stay current with emerging technologies — particularly in AI/ML-driven workflow automation — and champion their adoption where they deliver value

What You Will Bring :

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, with 9+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
• Deep knowledge of Datalake, Data Lakehouse, Canonical models, Service-Oriented Architecture with proven experience building and consuming RESTful Web Services
• Strong proficiency in Java and/or Spring framework including Spring Boot, JVM internals, concurrency, and multi-threading
• Strong Proficiency in building dynamic, reusable Data Pipelines and data technologies including Spark, Scala, GCP, Airflow, Big Query, Hudi, Cassandra, Kafka, Elastic Search etc
• Solid computer science fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, database design, and SQL
• Hands-on experience with access-governance patterns, and data-security implementation
• Hands-on knowledge of agentic AI / LLM-based workflow automation is a strong plus
• Experience with cloud platforms — GCP or Azure — and building highly available, distributed systems in production.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, log aggregation, monitoring, and alerting for production systems
• Experience with unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Jest, React Testing Library) and code quality platforms like SonarQube
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration
• Familiarity and comfort with Figma is a plus.
