What you’ll be doing...

The Verizon Business Communications team is looking for a versatile, proactive communications strategist to drive impactful storytelling across our commercial business. In this role, you will support our Small Business team, diving headfirst into end-to-end program execution while remaining agile enough to scale and support broader communication initiatives as business needs evolve. You are a self-starter who thrives on managing campaigns independently, building cross-functional alignment, and converting strategic business goals into compelling narratives.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Planning & Campaign Architecture: Translating commercial business strategy into integrated communication strategies.

  • Earned Media Strategy & Media Relations Execution: Pitching compelling stories, build relationships with key business, trade, and local media, and drive brand credibility and sentiment.

  • Program Execution & Local Outreach: Driving end-to-end campaign rollout and execute local or grassroots programs to bring national business priorities to life at a regional level.

  • Executive Communications & Leadership Narrative Counsel: Providing strategic messaging discipline, briefing materials, and executive positioning for key business leaders.

  • Strategic Writing & Message Governance: Developing disciplined narrative frameworks, message maps, proof points, Q&As, and written content that scale across internal and external channels.

  • Measurement & Operations: Utilizing data-driven insights and comms operations metrics to evaluate campaign impact, optimize channels, and deliver operational excellence.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Experience in corporate communications, public relations, or agency environments.

  • Proven track record of end-to-end program management and executing local or regional activations.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience supporting small business comms or local community engagement initiatives.

  • Established relationships with business, regional, or industry trade journalists.

  • Experience in telecommunications, B2B, or technology sectors.

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and narrative development skills.

  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter across a matrixed organization.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.

Where you’ll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.
