The Senior Staff Systems Engineer serves as a senior technical authority establishing, governing, and advancing the systems engineering framework across product lines. This role defines and maintains organizational procedures for requirements development, system decomposition, interface documentation, and verification and validation activities to ensure consistent, compliant, and high quality engineering practices. The position provides expert guidance in system architecture, leads cross functional coordination, and approves formal design reviews to ensure technical integrity and alignment with system strategy. Through deep technical expertise and leadership, ensures robust system performance and drives continuous improvement of systems engineering methodologies across the organization.
Responsibilities
Creates governing procedures for gathering, capturing and writing requirements
Creates governing procedures for decomposing system level requirements to subsystem/component level requirements
Drives verification and validation activities for a product/system line, including component, subsystem and full system testing
Creat0se governing procedures for verification and validation activities
Coordinates across engineering functions in defining system strategy and architecture
Provides subject matter expertise during technical reviews
Provides subject matter expertise and inputs into the formal design reviews across a system architecture
Approves design reviews and designates tasks to other systems engineers as required
Creates governing procedures for creation and maintenance of block and boundary diagrams and Interface Control Documents
Creates governing procedures for system level documentation
Identifies and analyzes risks and opportunities from a system architecture perspective, using this perspective to update governing procedures to address these possible risks
Informs other systems engineers of process and procedure updates
Acts as a resource to mentor and teach less experienced engineers
Supports product development across the system architecture in delivery of on-schedule, on-quality, compliant solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
BS Mechanical/Electrical/Software/Systems Engineering
10+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Systems Engineering expertise with an MS in Systems Engineering, INCOSE certification, and deep knowledge of requirements management and the V-model product development process.
Strong background in systems integration, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Experience designing and developing complex electromechanical and power management systems, including electrical power schemes and system architecture documentation.
Proven ability to create system architecture, schematic, and interconnect diagrams to support product development and integration efforts.
Extensive knowledge of the product development lifecycle, from concept through launch, with a focus on delivering technically robust solutions.
Demonstrated success leading and influencing cross-functional, matrixed teams while translating complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
Strong project management capabilities, balancing multiple initiatives, resources, and competing priorities to achieve business and technical objectives.
Self-driven, results-oriented engineering leader with expert-level technical knowledge, regulatory committee experience, and exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.''
