About the Role
A Payroll Specialist&Compliance is responsible for supporting the end‑to‑end payroll process for the assigned country, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll delivery for internal clients. The role includes managing all payroll‑related activities, executing regular payroll cycles, administering employee benefits, along with a strong understanding of local regulations is essential, and candidates should be able to propose adjustments to ensure alignment with state and federal laws.
What You Will Do
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Indian labor laws and applicable state and federal employment regulations.
- Review and evaluate company policies to ensure compliance, recommending changes to meet legal requirements.
- Ensure records are maintained in line with local regulations and data privacy standards.
- Assist with internal and external audits, including those conducted by clients and labor authorities
- Coordinate with the payroll vendor and finance team each month to finalize payroll timelines, ensuring timely execution and minimizing errors for a smooth payroll process.
- Ensure payroll inputs are accurately consolidated from all data sources—including emails, payroll portals, Workday, and payroll partners—and validate these inputs in alignment with payroll policies and defined processes.
- Respond to complex queries and escalations received from employees, HR, authorities, or other departments
- Responsible for executing monthly and ad‑hoc payroll control reports related to benefits‑in‑kind to ensure tax and payroll compliance.
- Create and maintain internal documentation for audit.
- Execute internal monthly payroll control reports and investigate payroll issues using problem solving technics
- Initiate process improvements and bring new ideas to increase efficiency and quality of provided service
- Responds to payroll queries from the finance team and manages finance‑related payroll audits.
What You Need
- University or College degree, preferably in Business Administration
- Minimum 1-3 Years of experience in India Payroll and Compliance role or related field.
- Should have handle employee grievances related to social security matters (PF) and collaborate with Rewards and Procurement to ensure compliance with wage and employment regulations for both direct and third-party employees.
- Maintains strong working knowledge of labor laws, best practices, and current trends and developments in the field.
- India payroll processing experience and Time management experience
- Proficiency in English communication
- Proficient level knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel
- Workday knowledge
- Showing ability to work with confidential information
- Being able to work with priorities and deadlines
- Project management experience
- Basic Payroll accounting knowledge
Bonus Points if You Have
- Master’s or University/College degree in HR/Payroll field
- APAC payroll experience
- Maintain records in accordance with local regulations and data privacy policies.
- Support internal and external audits, including those by clients and labor authorities.
- Experience with Shared Service Center environment
- Service Now knowledge (ticketing system)
- Employee Customer Service experience
