Description
STV is looking for a Senior Civil Rail Engineer to join our Transportation team and help deliver the next generation of rail and transit infrastructure. This role is ideal for a civil engineering professional who is ready to take on meaningful design work, collaborate with experienced technical leaders, and contribute to projects that improve mobility and connect communities. You’ll have the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle—from planning and design through construction support—while continuing to grow your technical expertise and project delivery skills.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and advance civil and track elements for rail and transit infrastructure projects, including track alignments, stations, bridges, tunnels, and related facilities.
- Support projects from design through construction by responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, and helping resolve field-related design questions.
- Contribute to quality reviews and QA/QC processes to help ensure design documents are accurate, practical, and aligned with project goals.
- Prepare engineering reports, drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation that support successful project delivery.
- Work closely with project managers, discipline leads, clients, agencies, and construction partners to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective rail solutions.

What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. PE Registration
- Minimum of 13 years of civil engineering experience, supporting rail, and transit infrastructure projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Experience supporting design and construction-phase services, including coordination with contractors, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.
- High Proficiency with engineering and design software :MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRail, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D.
- Working knowledge of rail and transportation standards and requirements, such as AREMA, CPUC, AAR, FRA, Metrolink, LA Metro, UPRR, BNSF, or similar agency standards.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical teams, clients, agencies, and construction partners.
- A collaborative mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven project environment.
