Purpose of Role

MUFG is seeking a Vice President for Japanese Corporate Sales within the Transaction Banking Office for Asia (TBOA) at its Singapore Branch. What you'll do:

As Vice President, Japanese Corporate Sales, you will be entrusted with responsibilities that span both strategic planning and hands-on client engagement. Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating with internal stakeholders across the bank’s APAC network to deliver integrated transaction banking solutions that address the evolving needs of Japanese corporate clients.

  • Support the planning and execution of Transaction Banking strategies tailored specifically for Japanese corporates operating across APAC, ensuring alignment with regional objectives.
  • Work closely with country-based Japanese Corporate Relationship Management teams to facilitate the implementation of regional transaction banking strategies throughout Asia Pacific.
  • Take on appropriate leadership roles within the organisation by actively participating in initiatives that drive business objectives and exemplify MUFG values.
  • Engage in strategic discussions and initiatives aimed at executing action plans for transaction banking while contributing valuable insights to shape future direction.
  • Achieve both financial and non-financial KPIs assigned annually by consistently delivering results through effective client engagement and business development activities.
  • Manage client relationships for cash management, financial supply chain solutions, and foreign exchange business by providing dependable support and customised advice.
  • Originate and customise structured products or processes according to clients’ unique requirements, ensuring their needs are met with precision and care.
  • Drive regional deals in close collaboration with branches across APAC by leveraging MUFG’s extensive network to maximise business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with local and regional colleagues to scope out, identify, and pursue new cash management, financial supply chain, and FX business opportunities.
  • Comply diligently with relevant country regulations as well as applicable MUFG Bank group policies while making improvements to streamline existing product documentation, operations, and approval processes.

The ideal candidate for Vice President, Japanese Corporate Sales at MUFG Bank brings a wealth of experience from transaction banking or corporate banking environments particularly those involving Japanese corporate clients. Your experience equips you with deep industry insight into cash management and trade finance products. You are recognised for your ability to win mandates through collaborative approaches rather than individualistic pursuits

  • Minimum 5 years of proven sales experience within transaction banking or corporate banking preferably with a focus of serving Japanese corporate clients
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a similar field
  • Proven knowledge and experience working with cash management products or trade finance solutions is vital for providing knowledgeable advice and support to clients.
  • A strong track record in winning deal mandates showcases your dependability in achieving business targets through collaborative efforts.
  • Excellent negotiation skills paired with outstanding interpersonal abilities ensure you can build trust-based relationships with clients and colleagues alike.
  • Being a committed team player who thrives in communal environments will allow you to contribute positively within MUFG’s matrix organisation structure.
  • Japanese language capability would be beneficial for supporting interactions with Japanese-speaking clients as well as engaging Tokyo Head Office stakeholders; however it is not mandatory for this position.
