A Glimpse of the Job

As Director of the Full-Time MBA Program, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for one of Mays Business School's premier graduate programs. In this highly visible role, you will guide the program's strategy, market positioning, student experience, and long-term success within the evolving landscape of graduate business education. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, you will help shape and deliver an exceptional MBA experience from a candidate's first interaction with the program through graduation and career placement. As the program's primary advocate and connector, you will build strong relationships with students, faculty, employers, alumni, and institutional partners to ensure the program remains innovative and responsive to market needs. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the next chapter of the Full-Time MBA Program, leverage the strengths of Texas A&M University and Mays Business School, and explore new approaches to graduate business education.

What You Need to Know 

Salary: $175,000 per year.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ten years of progressively responsible experience in management, program leadership, higher education, business, or a related field.

A Well-Qualified Candidate Will Also Possess:

  • Master’s degree; MBA or other graduate business degree preferred.

  • Leadership experience in higher education, graduate management education, business, or another complex, market-facing organization.

  • Experience leading a program, business unit, product, service, or other enterprise with responsibility for strategy and measurable outcomes.

  • Supervisory and team leadership experience.

  • Experience working across organizational boundaries and engaging senior leaders and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to lead change, foster innovation, and exercise sound judgment in complex and uncertain environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and translate strategy into clear priorities, executable plans, and measurable outcomes.

  • Ability to understand student, employer, and market needs and translate them into a compelling value proposition and improvements in programs and experiences.

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, including the ability to develop people, establish accountability, and create a collaborative culture.

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-management skills, with the ability to build trust, work across organizational boundaries, and lead through both authority and influence.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to represent the program effectively with internal and external audiences.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and execution skills, including the ability to use quantitative and qualitative information to inform decisions and move complex initiatives from concept to implementation.

  • Ability to navigate a complex academic institution while maintaining a commitment to integrity, continuous improvement, and student success.

Opportunities to Contribute

Program Strategy and Leadership

  • Provides strategic leadership and overall direction for the Full-Time MBA Program, establishing priorities, goals, measures of success, and short- and long-term strategies related to recruiting and admissions outcomes.

  • Monitors developments in graduate management education, employer needs, student expectations, and the MBA market and translates those insights into program strategy and innovation.

  • Builds alignment among faculty, staff, students, school leadership, and other key stakeholders around the program’s direction and priorities.

  • Leads, develops, and supervises program staff, establishing clear expectations, accountability, and a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and student success.

  • Works collaboratively with the leaders of other Mays graduate programs to identify opportunities for shared learning, coordination, innovation, and efficient use of resources.

  • Serves as a member of the Graduate Programs leadership team, representing the Full-Time MBA Program in broader school and university planning and contributing to strategy and initiatives across the Mays graduate portfolio.

Student Experience and Program Success

  • Leads an integrated, high-quality Full-Time MBA student experience from enrollment through graduation, maintaining strong relationships with students and an active understanding of their needs and experiences.

  • Works with faculty and staff to strengthen student engagement, belonging, professional development, academic and co-curricular experiences, retention, and overall student success.

  • Uses student feedback and outcomes to drive continuous program improvement.

  • Partners closely with Career Management to support student career readiness, internship and employment outcomes, and alignment between the program experience and evolving employer expectations.

  • Works with students and appropriate university partners to address complex student issues and ensure consistent, fair, and student-centered application of policies and procedures.

Market Position, Recruitment, and External Engagement

  • Serves as a visible advocate and spokesperson for the Full-Time MBA Program with prospective and admitted students, alumni, employers, advisory groups, professional organizations, and other external stakeholders.

  • Responsible for recruitment, admissions, marketing, and communications teams to develop and execute strategies that strengthen the program’s market position and attract a robust pool of prospective students who are well matched to the program.

  • Provides program leadership and subject-matter expertise in defining the Full-Time MBA value proposition, recruitment and admissions strategy, enrollment goals, and desired cohort composition.

  • Develops strong relationships with alumni, employers, corporate partners, and advisory groups to strengthen the program and create opportunities for students.

  • Partners with Career Management and other Mays units to strengthen employer engagement and connections between the program, students, and the marketplace.

Curriculum, Innovation, and Educational Experience

  • Works with graduate program leadership and faculty, contributing student, employer, and market evidence to curriculum discussions and surfacing recommendations for change, while faculty retain ownership of academic content and curricular approval.

  • Identifies and helps develop curricular, experiential, leadership, and professional development opportunities that strengthen the Full-Time MBA experience.

  • Supports assessment of program learning outcomes and uses findings to inform continuous improvement and innovation.

Operations, Assessment, and Stewardship

  • Manages the program’s budget and other resources in alignment with strategic priorities.

  • Uses enrollment, student, financial, career, market, and other relevant data to evaluate program performance and inform decisions.

  • Oversees program assessment, reporting, and required data requests, including those related to accreditation and rankings.

  • Ensures compliance with applicable requirements and identifies staffing, technology, facility, and other resources needed to achieve program goals.
