Job Description:
Supervises park grounds, athletic fields, school facilities, outdoor sports courts, or buildings during scheduled recreation activities; prepares fields, courts, or building areas for scheduled activities. During league play, may serve as the site scorekeeper for Sports, Community, and Well-Being (SCWB) activities.
Performs routine operations from established guidelines or instructions and takes proper action within well-defined alternatives. Although general instructions and supervision are provided, the work requires planning use of own time to meet pre-determined schedules.
Essential Job Functions:
Inspects park grounds and buildings to ensure they are clean, safe, and properly equipped for activity.
Opens and closes park grounds according to schedule; patrols buildings and grounds.
Sweeps, mops, dusts furniture and performs similar light housekeeping duties; collects litter from grounds.
Arranges and sets up furniture and equipment for scheduled activities.
Responds appropriately to inquiries and emergencies; stores and provides first aid supplies; makes calls to rescue squad, fire department and police when necessary.
Collects and accounts for fees; maintains attendance and records related to the recreation activity or sports league as assigned.
Interprets, explains and enforces park, school, and league rules and regulations; reports violations to SCWB staff.
Serves as the scorekeeper for various Calvert County Parks and Recreation sports programs.

Controls or directs parking around buildings or within park boundaries; reports any traffic violations to police; reports alcoholic beverage and conduct violations in parks or buildings.
Makes spot checks on activities in progress.
Turns on and off necessary lights or appliances for night time activities.
Operates necessary machinery for field preparation and maintenance or building clean-up.
Substitutes in other areas as needed.
Performs related work as required.

Park facilities, athletic fields and/or building layouts.
Park maintenance equipment.
Ability to--
Maintain a good working relationship with the public.
Deal effectively with the public.
Required Qualifications (Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.)
Training and/or Education:
High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience:
No experience required.
Licenses or Certificates:
Valid driver's license.
First aid and CPR certificates preferred.
Special Requirements:
Subject to background investigation.
Must be 18 years of age.
Operation of County owned vehicle.
Physical Demands:
Work requires light to medium physical effort.
Unusual Demands:
None

Compensation Steps:
Pay rate: $18.46 per hour
Grade H05, hourly position, up to 40 hours per week
