About Artheon
The Position
Artheon is seeking a motivated Associate Planner to join our Planning Department. As a multidisciplinary firm, Artheon works with public and private sector clients throughout New Jersey, providing a wide range of planning services including comprehensive master planning, redevelopment planning, affordable housing planning, and technical professional planning support to municipal Planning and Zoning Boards.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of master plans, redevelopment studies and plans, affordable housing plans, and other planning reports.
- Conduct research on zoning ordinances, land development regulations, demographic data, and planning best practices.
- Prepare maps, reports, presentations, and supporting documentation for planning projects.
- Assist with development applications and help ensure projects comply with municipal and state regulations.
- Attend meetings with clients, municipal staff, Planning Boards, and Zoning Boards, and assist with meeting preparation and follow-up.
- Support public outreach efforts, including community meetings, workshops, and public hearings.
- Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, landscape architects, and other project team members to support project delivery.
- Maintain project files and assist with day-to-day project coordination.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Public Administration, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- 1-3 years of planning experience through full-time employment, internships, or co-op experience.
- Working knowledge of land use planning principles and zoning regulations.
- Experience with Esri ArcGIS, Microsoft Office, and planning research tools is preferred.
- Strong written, verbal, and graphic communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments while working both independently and as part of a team.
- Eagerness to learn and grow in a collaborative consulting environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with New Jersey Municipal Land Use Law (MLUL) is a plus.
- Progress toward AICP certification and New Jersey Professional Planner (PP) licensure or an interest in pursuing professional licensure is encouraged but not required.
