Description
This internship is with the Community and Economic Development(C&ED) located in City Hall at 228 South Massachusetts Avenue in Lakeland, FL. Interns will work a maximum of 30 hours a week. This internship begins in late August.
- Assists Planning staff in compiling data and preparing reports/ applications to seek Bike Friendly and Trail Town designations
- Assists with technical review of site development plans and conducts site visits as needed
- Assists with review and analysis of zoning applications for compliance with land use regulations and other city growth management policies
- Attends and participates in public workshops, hearings and meetings
- Attends and participates in department/committee meetings as assigned
- Provides support to staff as assigned
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform related work as required
Currently enrolled as a sophomore in an accredited college or university in a major relating to Urban and Regional Planning.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, other City employees and the general public
- Skill in communicating effectively both verbally and in writing, and to request clarification when needed
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS:
- Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis, routine keyboard operations
- The job risks exposure to no significant environmental hazards
- The job requires normal visual acuity, and field of vision, hearing and speaking
