What You’ll Actually Do

Chevron is hiring Health, Safety and Environment Interns at various operating locations across the U.S, including:

  • Richmond, California

  • El Segundo, California

  • Houston, Texas

  • Midland, Texas

  • Salt Lake City, Utah

  • Covington, Louisiana

  • Belle Chasse, Louisiana

  • Pascagoula, Mississippi

  • Bakersfield, California

  • Pasadena, Texas

  • Greeley, Colorado

  • Ames, Iowa

  • Geismar, Louisiana

Job responsibilities are varied and diverse. Yet, whatever your job, you will be part of a team that delivers exceptional performance with respect to health, safety and environment.

You'll develop skills and contribute to the future of energy while working on meaningful projects that directly support operational excellence, environmental stewardship, and the health and safety of our workforce. You'll gain hands-on experience, build professional networks, and learn from industry experts.

Responsibilities of an Environmental Specialist may include:

  • Advising on environmental regulatory requirements and best practices.

  • Developing procedures and guidelines.

  • Compiling emissions estimates and reduction studies.

  • Developing environmental impact assessments.

  • Preparing control technology assessments.

  • Assessing site remediation plans.

  • Identifying waste management solutions.

Responsibilities of a Safety Specialist may include:

  • Advising on regulatory requirements and best practices.

  • Developing safety procedures and guidelines.

  • Conducting safety inspections and audits.

  • Evaluating and addressing ergonomic risks.

  • Developing strategies to improve safety and health performance.

  • Designing and delivering safety courses.

Responsibilities of an Industrial Hygiene Specialist may include:

  • Advising on regulatory requirements and best practices.

  • Developing and implementing plans and procedures.

  • Conducting exposure assessments and audits.

  • Designing and delivering training.

  • Recommending and evaluating exposure controls.

What You Must Have

The following qualifications are required:

  • We are looking for bright, enthusiastic, and highly motivated individuals with two years of experience or less.

  • Candidates should be pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree in one of the following:

  • Industrial Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Occupational Safety and Health

  • Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering with an environmental emphasis, Civil Engineering with an environmental emphasis (master’s or PhD), Environmental Sciences (PhD)

  • Safety Science, Geology/Hydrogeology (master’s or PhD preferred)

  • You should also have the desire and ability to work in both domestic and international locations as new opportunities arise.

  •  Ability to demonstrate The Chevron Way.

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated monthly (hourly) range for this position is $24.23/hour - $6,500 monthly. The selected candidate’s monthly or hourly compensation will be determined based on their selected role, degree level and academic year.

As an intern, you will receive the following benefits:

  • Furnished housing.

  • Participation in Employee Savings Investment Plan with immediate vesting in both employee and company contributions.

    • Chevron matching contributions:

      • 4% company match for a 1% employee contribution.

      • 8% company match for a 2% employee contribution.

  • Work schedules:

    • Flexible work schedules (5/40, 9/80, or 4/10), as determined by the work group and confirmed with the hiring manager.

  • Paid holidays depending on your work schedule.

  • Full year of service credit for each internship completion (must be re-employed within 365 days)
