Description
The Assistant Director provides career advising, coaching and programming to undergraduate and graduate students and alumni needing assistance with career discernment, assessment, decision making, career exploration, career readiness, job search preparation and professional development. This position will work directly with students, faculty and employers to communicate information and promote opportunities. The individual will assist students with exploration and preparation for employer interaction, and will assist with overall office operations including individual appointments and workshops, job fairs, development of student staff and resources, and special projects.

Provide career development and assistance in the efficient operation of a smooth-running multi-faceted office that provides excellent customer service to students, employers and faculty, resulting in student and alumni professional success.Student & Alumni Service Delivery 75%
- Assist students and alumni through workshops, classes, group sessions, and individual appointments to explore careers and internships and provide education to students regarding career exploration, resumes, interviews, networking, and job/internship search skills.
- Develop and expand scalable career-readiness and professional development resources to support student and alumni career exploration and success.
- Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge and usage of HandshakeCSM system and other tools to maximize student usage and promote the efficient delivery of services and resources.
- Partner with faculty to develop and deliver class presentations and outreach to achieve an integrated approach to career exploration and career readiness.
- Create model for expansive campus career ecosystem through faculty, staff, and student ambassadors
- Serve as primary contact for Federal employment including promotion and workshops.
- Assist with development and delivery of a comprehensive schedule of events and programs; participate in departmental programs and events.
- Partner with other areas and departments for outreach to special populations including student groups, student staff and identified populations, to support student and alumni success and promote career development resources
- Promote and coordinate career guidance and self-assessment program outreach and usage for all students and alumni, with special attention to First Year Seminar/Experience and Generation Next Foundations courses
- Coordinate specific programs, projects, or systems which could include departmental reporting, communications & marketing outreach, webpage, professional wardrobing
- Support institutional recruitment efforts through participation in Open Houses, Accepted Student Days, and related events; Support orientation, commencement, and major events
- Maintain awareness of trends in career development, employer recruitment, workforce readiness, employer engagement, and higher education
- Provide support and participate as appropriate in training, supervision and evaluation of student staff in conjunction with Office Manager; advance professionalism and career development across campus
- Assist with identifying and cultivating new employer relationships, as directed by the Director, Career Development.
- Assist with Career Development projects and operations as assigned
- Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel or closely related area
- 2 years professional experience in College Career Development, Human Resources recruitment or closely related discipline required.
- Experience working directly with college level students, faculty and key stakeholders through individual appointments, presentations, events, and development of related resources
- Demonstrated ability to work professionally with both internal and external constituents
- Proven ability to partner as an excellent teammate with sound work ethic, communication, and dedication to career exploration and professional development in a college setting.
- Ability to interpret and teach career exploration, development, internship, and recruitment best practices.
- Proficiency in using career management software, Microsoft Office suite, Google suite, virtual collaboration tools, promotional and/or creative software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to provide strong project oversight with a high level of attention to detail and a consistent record of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated evidence of successful experience supporting the unique needs of diverse populations.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
