Schedules and coordinates the quarterly preparation of U.S. Statutory reports filed with various regulatory authorities.  Leads and manages accounting and reporting functions related to U.S. Statutory reporting transactions. Reviews and analyzes statutory accounting information ensuring accuracy of data and design. 

Principal Duties:

  • Schedules and coordinates the quarterly preparation of U.S. Statutory reports filed with various regulatory authorities.

  • Leads and manages accounting and financial reporting functions for regulatory reporting transactions and management-basis reporting. 

  • Reviews and analyzes statutory accounting information ensuring accuracy of data and design. Works with various business units to ensure information needed is provided in a timely manner.

  • Reviews applicable US Statutory guidelines, including the NAIC Annual Statement Instructions and Accounting Practices and Procedures Manual, to ensure the accuracy and completeness of statutory financial statements and disclosures. 

  • Monitors NAIC working group and other industry activity for potential new initiatives that could impact reporting requirements.

  • Participates in the design and structure of U.S. Statutory accounting solutions that lead to efficient controls and processes as well as improved reporting.

  • Performs management duties including, but not limited to hiring, training, evaluation, coaching, and disciplining direct reports.  Foster a positive and engaged work environment. Mentors associates and gives guidance on associate development.

  • Manages ongoing reporting relationships and expectations with regulatory reporting service providers to ensure accurate and timely flow of information.

  • Works with internal departments to assure integrity of data and reports. Continually evaluates quality of information for accuracy and compliance and works to resolve various reporting and process flow problems.

  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, or equivalent related work experience required

  • Master's Degree preferred

Licenses and Certifications:

  • CPA certification, FLMI

Work Experience:

  • 8+ years accounting or auditing experience w/ 5+ years U.S. Statutory reporting experience required

  • 5+ years supervisory or management experience preferred

Skills & Abilities:

  • Intermediate Word, Excel and SQL/Query skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Company business practices and procedures

  • Advanced knowledge of the insurance and/or reinsurance industry

  • Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions

  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received

  • Advanced level of investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work well within a team environment, participate in department/team projects and balance detail with departmental objectives

  • Advanced ability to manage multiple projects and/or teams simultaneously

  • Advanced ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical disciplines

  • Advanced ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions

  • Advanced level of skills in customer relationship management and change management

  • Ability to resolve conflicts and foster teamwork

  • Advanced persuasion and negotiating skills when working with internal/external customers

  • Highly advanced level of people management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates; including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility

  • Advanced ability to analyze and improve business processes

  • Highly advanced knowledge of U.S. Statutory Accounting Principles and Regulatory Reporting requirements

  • Highly advanced knowledge of accounting/finance

Compensation Range:

$107,060.00 - $159,390.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
