Role Overview
Reo Group is partnering with a specialist UW team to recruit a Junior Construction Underwriter ready to take a meaningful step forward in their career. You will join a focused Construction team in Sydney and work alongside experienced underwriters who are genuinely committed to developing the next generation of technical talent.
This role is built for someone with 3 to 5 years of experience in construction insurance who has developed a solid technical foundation and is now ready to take on greater responsibility, broader exposure, and a more senior mandate. You will be supported every step of the way, but you will also be challenged, trusted, and given real work from day one.
Responsibilities
• Underwrite a portfolio of construction and engineering risks, including Contract Works, public liability, and related classes.
• Assess risk submissions, determine terms, and prepare quotes and policy documentation within delegated authority.
• Build and maintain relationships with brokers, providing technical guidance and responsive service.
• Work closely with senior underwriters on complex and high-value construction placements.
• Contribute to portfolio management, including monitoring performance, identifying trends, and flagging areas of concern.
• Stay current with construction market conditions, emerging risks, and industry developments.
Candidate Profile
You are a technically capable underwriter or broker with genuine experience in construction insurance and a desire to grow. You bring a strong work ethic, a curious mind, and the confidence to engage with brokers and clients with professionalism and clarity.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in construction or engineering insurance underwriting or broking.
• Hands-on exposure to Contract Works is essential.
• A solid understanding of construction risk principles, policy wordings, and coverage terms.
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to build effective broker relationships.
• A genuine appetite for technical development and long-term career growth in the construction space.
