About
Chrono24 is the world’s leading online marketplace for luxury watches, connecting buyers and sellers from over 80 countries. We’re a fast-growing international tech company headquartered in Karlsruhe, Germany, with a passionate team that puts our customers first every day.
As AI Solution Engineer, you help teams across Chrono24 turn everyday manual work into working AI-powered automations. You sit close to the business, partnering with non-technical departments across the company, from Growth and Marketing to Finance, People & Culture and beyond, to discover where AI can remove effort, and you build the solution together with them.
You are the bridge between a business problem and a working solution. You bring both sides together: business understanding to see what a team really needs, and technical skill to build it. You consult on what's possible, scope it, and build quick, practical automations and proofs-of-concept using existing AI models and tooling.
You build on the tools, integrations and platform that the Tool Enablement team provides, and you partner with the Machine Learning team whenever a solution is ready to scale, move into monitored production, or needs deeper engineering.
What you can expect
- Consult and partner with commercial teams: Sit with non-technical departments to understand their processes, surface high-value automation opportunities, and shape solutions together with them.
- Build practical automations and POCs: Connect existing tools and LLMs into working workflows fast, to prove value before anything scales.
- Know our systems: Understand which internal systems and data a use case needs, judge what has to be made accessible, and articulate the requirement clearly (via APIs and, ideally, MCP).
- Enable teams to help themselves: Hand over working first versions and equip teams to run, adjust, and maintain simple solutions themselves.
- Know when to hand off: Recognize when a use case needs the ML team (scaling, self-hosting, cost or quality optimization, monitored production), Tool Enablement (tools, integrations) or IT (server infrastructure, access and security), and route it cleanly.
- Work in the open: Collaborate closely with the ML team, Tool Enablement and IT, whose use-case knowledge and infrastructure this role builds on.
What sets you apart
- A blend of business and technical understanding: With a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience you combine solid business sense with a hands-on technical foundation, for example a business-informatics background or a comparable mix of experience.
- Solid programming fundamentals: You build working MVPs yourself, wiring existing tools, LLMs and integrations into working solutions at a practical, not production-grade, level.
- Applied AI experience: Hands-on with LLMs and prompt engineering in real use cases (Claude, GPT or similar), not just experimenting.
- Integration awareness: A working understanding of APIs, HTTP/JSON and, ideally, MCP, enough to connect tools and judge what data and access a solution needs. You get up to speed fast on the tools and systems our teams use day to day, so you can advise them credibly and spot where AI fits.
- Enabling communicator: you explain options clearly to non-technical stakeholders, translate fluently between business and technical worlds, and shape solutions together with the teams. Strong, direct communication is core to the role.
- Ownership: you spot opportunities, scope them, and bring a first version to life without waiting for tickets.
- Challenges the status quo: You question how work gets done today and look for where AI can meaningfully change the process.
- Language: Very good German and English skills.
Out of scope (so expectations are clear)
- Training or fine-tuning models: this role uses existing models in a deployment setup; it does not build them.
- Building and owning infrastructure, platforms, or self-hosted models: provided by Tool Enablement, IT / ML.
- Long-term, monitored, scaled production systems: handed to the ML team once a use case grows beyond a POC.
