Anticipated Pay Range
$97,406 – $141,627 annually.
Anticipated Midpoint
$119,516 Annually
Starting salaries generally fall between the minimum and midpoint of the range. Each offer depends on the candidate’s experience and qualifications, internal pay equity, and available budget. Salary offers are negotiated individually based on these factors.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
This role is pivotal in designing, organizing, and executing comprehensive, city-wide programs and activities that bring our community to life. Operating with a high degree of autonomy under the guidance of the Parks and Public Facilities Director, this position leads a dedicated team of professionals to deliver exceptional recreational experiences, events, and opportunities for City of Richland residents of all ages.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
This is a full-time, in-person position with a typical Monday–Friday schedule of 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. While standard office hours apply, this role requires occasional availability for evening and weekend community events, programs, and meetings. To help balance this, flexible scheduling options, including a 9/80 schedule with alternating Fridays off, may be available upon approval.
This position is open until filled, with first consideration given to those applicants who apply prior to August 17, 2026.
Selection will be based on overall qualifications, skills testing (if applicable), and an interview process. The final candidate selected will be subject to a comprehensive background/reference check commensurate to the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Associates/technical degree in Recreation, or related field
Three (3) years of experience in recreation programming
Two (2) years in a supervisory role
Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Valid driver’s license
Obtain First Aid, CPR, Defibrillator Certifications within three (3) months of hire
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Certified Parks & Recreation Professional (CPRP)
Certified Pool Operator/Aquatic Facilities Operator (CPO/AFO)
Experience with management of aquatics facilities
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management or equivalent related degree program
