With decades of experience supporting utilities, grid operators and industrial clients, it delivers independent expertise across the entire electricity value chain, helping accelerate the energy transition while improving the performance and reliability of critical assets.
The Senior Electrical Engineer (Switchgears) will provide high-level technical expertise in electrical equipment and power systems, supporting consulting assignments, asset assessments, procurement activities, troubleshooting investigations and innovation projects across the Americas. The role requires deep technical knowledge, customer interaction and international collaboration to help clients optimize the performance, reliability and lifecycle of critical electrical assets.
Some responsibilities of the position include:
- Lead technical assessments of medium- and high-voltage switchgear systems throughout design, procurement, commissioning and operational stages.
- Review technical specifications, supplier proposals and engineering documentation, providing independent recommendations to support investment decisions.
- Participate in factory inspections, FATs, SATs and technical audits, ensuring equipment quality, compliance and operational readiness.
- Conduct root-cause investigations of equipment failures and support clients in resolving complex operational and maintenance challenges.
- Collaborate with international experts and customers on consulting and innovation projects related to power systems, transmission infrastructure and energy transition initiatives.
Our client describes its ideal candidate as:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering or a related discipline.
- Senior-level experience in the power industry, with strong technical expertise in switchgears.
- Additional experience with power transformers and/or generators will be considered a strong advantage.
- Proven experience in technical diagnostics, asset management, maintenance, testing or troubleshooting of critical electrical equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a hands-on engineering mindset.
- Intermediate to advanced English, with the ability to read technical documentation, prepare reports and actively participate in international meetings.
- Availability to travel internationally up to approximately 30% of the time, including occasional trips of one to two weeks or longer.
- Ability to work autonomously in multicultural and international environments.
- Knowledge of transmission systems, grid operations or power generation assets will be valued.
- Based in Santiago, Chile.
