Description

Company Overview
Price Benowitz LLP is a mid-sized law firm headquartered in Washington, DC, with offices throughout Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, and South Carolina. Our practice areas include Family Law, Criminal Defense, Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice, Trusts & Estates, and more. Guided by our core values of Passion, Integrity, and Excellence, we are committed to delivering exceptional legal services while fostering a collaborative and supportive workplace.

Position Summary
Price Benowitz LLP is seeking an experienced Managing Family Law Paralegal to lead and support our growing Family Law Paralegal team.

This is both a hands-on paralegal and people leadership role. The Managing Family Law Paralegal will maintain an active caseload while overseeing the day-to-day operations, training, workflow, and development of our Family Law Paralegal team across multiple jurisdictions.

Extensive experience with Virginia family law is required, as this individual will serve as the primary resource for Virginia family law procedures and provide ongoing coaching and guidance to our Virginia-based legal support team. While Virginia experience is essential, the position may be based in Fairfax, Washington, DC, Leesburg, or another nearby office.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who enjoys mentoring others, improving processes, maintaining high-quality work product, and partnering closely with attorneys to ensure exceptional client service.

Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Family Law Paralegal team across multiple offices.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, training, and performance feedback to paralegals, with particular emphasis on Virginia family law procedures and best practices.
  • Serve as the primary resource for questions involving Virginia family law practice and procedure.
  • Monitor workloads and assist with case assignments to ensure appropriate staffing and balanced distribution of work.
  • Establish and maintain consistent workflows, templates, and best practices across the department.
  • Collaborate with local supervisors in Washington, DC and Maryland to ensure consistency in quality, training, and performance across all jurisdictions.
  • Partner with attorneys and firm leadership to identify operational improvements and implement department-wide initiatives.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new paralegals and legal assistants.
Case Management
  • Provide comprehensive support throughout all phases of family law litigation, including divorce, custody, child support, spousal support, equitable distribution, protective orders, contempt actions, and post-judgment matters.
  • Draft, review, and finalize pleadings, motions, discovery, financial disclosures, settlement agreements, correspondence, and other legal documents.
  • Prepare and file pleadings while ensuring compliance with jurisdiction-specific court rules and deadlines.
  • Review and organize financial records and discovery materials.
  • Coordinate depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial preparation.
  • Prepare trial notebooks, hearing binders, exhibits, and witness files.
  • Monitor case progress and proactively identify issues before they impact deadlines or client service.
  • Maintain organized electronic case files and ensure adherence to firm standards.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of family law paralegal experience.
  • Extensive experience handling Virginia family law matters from inception through trial and post-judgment proceedings.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience managing, mentoring, or training paralegals or legal support staff.
  • Strong working knowledge of Virginia family law procedures, court rules, and filing requirements.
  • Experience with Washington, DC and/or Maryland family law is a plus.
  • Exceptional drafting, proofreading, and organizational skills.
  • Strong litigation and discovery experience.
  • Excellent project management and time management abilities.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple competing deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and client service.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who naturally leads by example. The successful candidate is someone others turn to for guidance because of their knowledge, judgment, and willingness to help.
This individual enjoys developing people as much as managing cases. They recognize opportunities to improve processes, proactively solve problems, and ensure the department operates efficiently while maintaining exceptional quality and client service.
The ideal candidate is confident enough to coach experienced paralegals, approachable enough to support newer team members, and organized enough to oversee multiple offices while remaining actively involved in casework.

Compensation & Schedule
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Full-time position.
  • Hybrid work schedule available.
  • Candidates may be based in Fairfax, VA; Leesburg, VA; Washington, DC; or another nearby Price Benowitz office.
  • Virginia family law experience is required regardless of work location.
Benefits
Price Benowitz LLP offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Employer-supported mental health resources
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Paid time off and firm holidays
  • 401(k)
