Description
Cytokinetics is a specialty cardiovascular biopharmaceutical company, building on its over 25 years of pioneering scientific innovations in muscle biology, and advancing a pipeline of potential new medicines for patients suffering from diseases of cardiac muscle dysfunction.
Reporting directly to the Director of Global Logistics, the Manager, Supply Chain Logistics and Distribution, is a key member of the Global Supply Chain organization. This role is responsible for executing the company’s distribution strategy and operating model to support business growth across Europe and other international markets.
The position oversees logistics and distribution operations through Third-Party Logistics Providers (3PLs) and wholesale partners, ensuring consistent product availability, high service performance, and compliance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP), internal policies, and all applicable regulatory requirements. Working cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, Commercial teams, and external stakeholders, the Manager plays a critical role in supporting the Order-to-Cash process, revenue recognition, customer satisfaction, and the efficient distribution of Cytokinetics products to direct-purchasing customers.
Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities assigned to the Manager, Supply Chain Logistics and Distribution are organized into the following areas of focus:
Distribution Operations Execution
- Execute distribution operations in alignment with the established distribution operating model to support business growth across Europe and Rest of World (ROW) markets.
- Support the implementation of the distribution strategy through effective management of Third-Party Logistics Providers (3PLs) and wholesale partners to ensure uninterrupted product availability.
- Coordinate daily distribution activities to facilitate the efficient and timely flow of products throughout the supply chain.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate distribution performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure all commercial products and material movements are conducted in accordance with approved storage, handling, and transportation requirements specific to each product.
Distribution Relationship and Service Management
- Manage relationships with distribution partners, including 3PLs and wholesalers, ensuring compliance with service level agreements, quality standards, and contractual obligations.
- Oversee service performance, operational execution, distribution costs, and data reporting requirements to support Finance, Commercial, and Supply Chain functions.
- Identify, escalate, and resolve service issues, operational risks, and performance gaps that may impact product availability, customer service, or business objectives.
- Support the Order-to-Cash process and revenue recognition activities through effective collaboration with Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain, and external stakeholders.
- Assist in resolving issues that could affect order processing, invoicing, customer deliveries, or revenue recognition timelines.
- Partner closely with Commercial and Sales leadership teams to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and service excellence.
Quality and Compliance
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance to support distribution-related quality processes, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Change Controls, Deviations, and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs).
- Review and monitor product return requests to ensure compliance with the Cytokinetics Returns Policy and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Support daily distribution activities, including new customer setup processes, to ensure timely approvals and successful first-order execution.
- Ensure all commercial products and material movements comply with approved storage and transportation requirements and are executed in accordance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, company policies, quality standards, and industry best practices.
- Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews by maintaining accurate records, documentation, and distribution controls.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations management, engineering, business
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in logistics and distribution operations within a commercial pharmaceutical environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing distribution activities, including coordination with Third-Party Logistics Providers (3PLs), wholesalers, and support for product launch activities.
- Experience operating within a virtual manufacturing environment, including the management of outsourced business services such as contract manufacturing, supplier management, transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical industry regulations and quality standards, including Good Distribution Practice (GDP), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to analyze complex issues, solve problems effectively, and make sound, data-driven decisions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams, external partners, and regulatory authorities.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in supply chain and enterprise systems, with the ability to leverage data and reporting tools to support operational decision-making and performance monitoring.
