Overview
Performs more advanced PM (preventive maintenance) on a variety of production machinery, which includes CNC (Computer Numeric Control) machining centers. Performs simple machine repair, fabrication, and welding as assigned. Works with processes and systems for HAZMAT, OSHA, DEQ, and other regulatory bodies.*The level of the role will depend on experience*
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works with Supervisor, Unit Specialist, or trainer to perform more advanced preventive maintenance. Provides routine maintenance, including lubrication, and cleaning to production areas of the company that meet the performance, ergonomic, and safety standards.
- Inspects and occasionally recommends repair or replacement components. Works with maintenance leadership and senior mechanics for direction on projects.
- As part of the Preventative Maintenance routine, checks and adjusts as needed, the backlash of equipment.
- Occasionally performs light machine repair, fabrication, and welding as assigned.
- Trains/mentors other mechanics on preventative maintenance.
- Actively engages and participates in the department's continuous improvement efforts. Demonstrates behaviors and attitudes that emphasize and focus on permanent resolutions to problems.
- Maintains maintenance records in a CMMS (Cribmaster), and orders preventive maintenance supplies as needed.
- Follows and adheres to all ISO, OSHA, and DEQ requirements.
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of related mechanical/technical work experience in a manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with hand tools and power tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to use measuring equipment including inside/outside micrometers, dial indicators, and heat monitoring guns.
- Working knowledge of computers and the ability to learn new computer programs such as CMMS (CribMaster).
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and troubleshoot problems when necessary. Must also be able to interpret machine part books used in this position.
- Understanding of tolerance required on production machinery as well as the ability to fabricate repair parts for these machines.
- Must be able to fulfill the minimum qualifications of Maintenance PM Mechanic I.
- Must either hold HazMat certification or become certified within the first year of employment. All required licensures must be maintained and kept up to date.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis. Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively. Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift. Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and /or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.
