The Maricopa County Legal Defender is searching for a candidate who is looking to be active on the job! As the runner, you will be responsible for delivering and picking up legal documents and other items from various offices in downtown Phoenix.

We Require
- Six months of clerical and/or customer service experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value
- Experience in an office setting, such as filing, answering a multi-line phone, data entry, and scheduling appointments
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills
Job Contributions
- Delivers and picks up legal materials, documents, equipment, or other items on foot at various locations in downtown Phoenix daily
- Files legal documents with the court
- Files, photocopies, and scans documents and materials for placement in files and/or distribution to attorneys and staff
- Assembles, sorts, and/or inventories documents, files, and trial clothes
- Provides daily coverage for receptionist, including answering a multi-line phone, greeting, and directing guests
- Moves boxes, large items, and performs minor office clean-up tasks
Working Conditions
- Most work is done in an office setting
- This position requires the ability to walk 2-3 miles on a daily basis, in all weather circumstances, which includes rain and extreme heat
- Must be able to lift, carry, or push up to 35 pounds for 2 miles
- This position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time and the ability to work in close proximity with others, including public contact.
