Plumber/Steampipe Fitter
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital/Norfolk, Virginia
(On-site position)
The Plumber/Steampipe Fitter is responsible for inspecting and repairing pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures related to the heating, water, gas and drainage systems. This individual will also be responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of medical air and suction systems, medical gasses to include the distribution, piping, and terminal connections in addition to being responsible for maintenance and repair of heating and cooling hydronic systems.
High School Grad or equivalent required. Four years of relevant experience OR 240 hours of vocational training required. Journeyman Plumber licensure must be obtained within 90 days (or less) from date of hire.
Depending on location, facility may require MLB upon hire. Some sites require individuals to obtain Anti-Backflow certification within one year of employment MPLB preferred.
Education
- High School Diploma/equivalent or trade school (Required)
- Four years of relevant experience OR 240 hours of vocational training required. Journeyman Plumber licensure must be obtained within 90 days (or less) from date of hire.
Certification/Licensure
- Certification or License (Required) : If one does not currently hold the Journeyman's license, Journeyman Plumber licensure must be obtained within 90 days (or less) from date of hire
Experience
- Four years of relevant experience OR
- 240 hours of vocational training required.

Position is "Mission Essential" personnel
Facilities employee must be within 1/2 hour return to SNGH
Rotating schedule, weekends and on-call required
