Description
What You Can Expect:
- Prepare and process import and export documentation in compliance with Canadian customs regulations and procedures
- Coordinate the payment of duties, taxes, and related charges to ensure timely release of shipments
- Classify goods accurately using HS codes and maintain up-to-date client profiles, including tariff treatments and vendor information
- Ensure entries are submitted and closed within required timelines to avoid delays, storage fees, or penalties
- Provide timely updates to clients and respond to inquiries regarding shipment status and customs requirements
- Liaise with customs authorities and external partners to resolve clearance issues and shipment exceptions
- Support duty drawback activities and ensure compliance with duty deferral programs
- Manage release processes, including obtaining freight release and handling documentation with carriers and terminals
- Process both high-value and low-value shipments in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Support sub-agency activities, including billing, documentation handling, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain accurate records and ensure data integrity across all customs-related systems
- Participate in after-hours coverage on a rotational basis and provide support during peak periods as needed
- Travel to customs offices or airport locations when required
- Contribute to a high standard of service by proactively identifying and resolving issues
What You Bring:
- 2+ years of experience in a customs brokerage or logistics support role
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation is considered a strong asset
- Solid understanding of customs processes and the broader supply chain environment
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on building effective relationships
- Comfortable working with numbers, including duties, taxes, and financial data, with good attention to accuracy
- High attention to detail, particularly in documentation and regulatory compliance
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
- Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate and resolve issues independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including intermediate Excel skills
- Flexibility to provide after-hours support as required
