The Opportunity
We are currently looking to recruit two experienced Project Managers to join an established and growing engineering business, supporting a strong portfolio of projects across the energy, utilities and industrial sectors.
These are excellent opportunities for commercially aware Project Managers who take genuine ownership of project delivery and enjoy being accountable for taking projects from initiation through to successful completion.
The business has an established client base and a strong pipeline of work, offering the opportunity to manage technically interesting projects while developing long-term client relationships.
This is not simply a project coordination role. The successful candidates will be expected to take full responsibility for their projects, proactively manage challenges and drive solutions to ensure delivery against agreed budgets, programmes and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
-
Take full ownership and accountability for the successful delivery of assigned projects.
-
Manage project budgets, forecasts, costs and commercial performance.
-
Develop, maintain and manage project programmes and delivery schedules.
-
Proactively identify, assess and manage project risks and opportunities.
-
Manage project scope, variations and change control processes.
-
Lead project teams, ensuring resources are effectively allocated and project objectives are achieved.
-
Act as the primary point of contact for clients and key stakeholders.
-
Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and consistent delivery.
-
Identify potential delivery issues early and implement appropriate recovery plans.
-
Take responsibility for resolving project challenges rather than simply escalating them.
-
Monitor project performance, reporting progress against key milestones, budgets and deliverables.
-
Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual and quality requirements.
About You
You will be an experienced Project Manager with a proven track record of delivering engineering, industrial, energy or utilities-related projects.
You will demonstrate:
-
Strong project management experience within an engineering or technical environment.
-
A proven ability to take ownership of projects from start to finish.
-
Excellent commercial awareness, including budget management and cost control.
-
Experience managing project risks, scope, variations and change control.
-
Strong programme and schedule management capabilities.
-
Confidence managing clients, contractors, internal teams and wider stakeholders.
-
A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
-
The ability to manage challenging situations and implement effective recovery plans.
-
Strong communication, organisation and leadership skills.
Most importantly, you will be someone who takes accountability. You won't simply identify problems and pass them on; you'll understand the impact, develop a plan and drive the necessary actions through to resolution.
Why Join?
-
Salary of £75,000–£80,000.
-
Opportunity to work with established clients across the energy and utilities sectors.
-
A strong and developing project pipeline.
-
The opportunity to take ownership of significant engineering projects.
-
A collaborative environment where initiative and accountability are valued.
-
Hybrid working flexibility, with typically 2–3 days per week in the office.
If you're a commercially minded Project Manager who takes pride in delivering projects successfully, this is an excellent opportunity to join an established business with an exciting pipeline of work.
