Description
We are hiring Class A drivers in Kenosha County and southeast Wisconsin for an OTR dry van fleet that never takes you more than two days from home. You run 2,000 to 2,800 miles a week across the country from Colorado east, with no New York and no New England, and you average $1,200 to $1,800. You are home every two weeks. Your first 3 months solo carry a $1,000 weekly minimum. New CDL holders train with a paid mentor. Drivers with 6 months or more of recent experience start solo after orientation.
OTR miles, with a shorter leash
Real OTR pays because the miles are long. The catch is usually that you end up three days from home when something comes up. This fleet keeps the long miles and drops the catch. No set lane, so the work stays fresh, but you are never more than two days out.
Pay
- $0.50 to $0.72 per mile based on verifiable experience
- 2,000 to 2,800 miles a week
- About $1,200 to $1,800 a week
- $1,000 weekly minimum for your first 3 months solo
- $15 for each stop except the first and last
- $75 plus mileage on short hauls
- $650 a week during training
- Paid weekly by direct deposit
The work
Drop and hook, preloads, live loads and live unloads. Day and night dispatch. Weekends are worked; plan your holidays with your driver leader. Your truck is assigned to you, automatic or 10-speed, about 1.5 years old on average, and most have an APU or inverter.
Getting started
A recruiter calls and reviews your license and record. Orientation takes two days at most, with your hotel covered and your bus ticket paid back, and pays $300 once you are hired. New drivers train 3 to 5 weeks with a mentor, about 200 to 250 hours, at $650 a week. With 6 months of OTR experience in the last 12 months, you skip training and go solo.
Benefits after 30 days
Medical, dental, vision and prescription. 401(k) and employee stock purchase plan. Paid time off. A free online degree for you and one family member. Approved riders and one dog under 40 pounds after training.
Requirements
- Class A CDL from your state of residence, 21 or older
