Description

GEOINT Systems Engineering Senior

Your Role

Mission Intelligence Group is seeking a Senior GEOINT Systems Engineer to support enterprise transformation initiatives across GEOINT mission systems and programs. This role is ideal for a systems engineer who thrives at the intersection of mission operations, enterprise architecture, systems integration, and strategic planning.

You will work across the full Systems Engineering and Integration lifecycle, including Architecture, Requirements Development, CONOPS, Integration, Testing, and Transition to Operations (TTO). Leveraging expertise in the GEOINT Tasking, Collection, Processing, Exploitation, and Dissemination (TCPED) Architecture, you will help shape future-state GEOINT capabilities and inform enterprise modernization decisions.

As a member of the Enterprise Engineering & Architecture Division's Integration Team, you will collaborate with expert architects, engineers, and integrators to analyze complex mission challenges, evaluate alternatives, and develop recommendations that directly influence enterprise investment and modernization strategies across NGA and the broader National System for Geospatial Intelligence (NSG).

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Architecture & Systems Engineering

  • Perform architecture gap analyses and contribute to the development of future-state enterprise architectures.
  • Conduct engineering analyses to support GEOINT mission and IT capability investment decisions.
  • Analyze enterprise baselines and ensure requirements allocation across systems and architectural components.
  • Maintain end-to-end traceability between mission requirements, system capabilities, architectures, and implementation activities.
  • Translate customer and mission needs into actionable system and capability requirements.

Systems Integration & Mission Modernization

  • Lead and support integration efforts across multiple organizations, programs, and stakeholders.
  • Develop project plans, architecture products, CONOPS, roadmaps, schedules, and risk-management artifacts.
  • Support enterprise modernization initiatives involving Analytic, Collection Management, Data Services, Foundation GEOINT, and Information Technology capabilities.
  • Coordinate integration activities across NGA Program Executive Offices (PEOs) and mission partner organizations.
  • Lead end-to-end integration initiatives from planning through Transition to Operations (TTO).

Engineering Analysis & Strategic Planning

  • Conduct Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Courses of Action (COAs), trade studies, and engineering assessments.
  • Evaluate enterprise capabilities and provide recommendations regarding modernization, consolidation, and system divestiture decisions.
  • Facilitate development of target-state architectures, integrated project plans, requirements, epics, and capability roadmaps.
  • Provide technical leadership and identify opportunities to expand engineering scope and mission impact.

Governance & Collaboration

  • Lead or participate in Integrated Project Teams (IPTs), working groups, and tiger teams.
  • Support NGA governance, configuration management, and risk management processes.
  • Coordinate across engineering, architecture, and mission stakeholder communities to ensure synchronized execution and delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related technical discipline such as Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or another STEM field.
  • Equivalent senior-level Systems Engineering experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Senior-level experience supporting government or industry programs involving:
    • DoD or Intelligence Community acquisition processes
    • Requirements development and management
    • PPBES processes
    • Large-scale System of Systems architectures
    • Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) or Cloud-based environments
  • Strong understanding of Systems Engineering principles and lifecycle processes.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and integrating complex technical solutions across multiple stakeholders and organizations.
  • TS/SCI active clearance.

Desired Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of GEOINT TCPED Architecture, including data providers, systems, services, interfaces, and data flows.
  • Knowledge of current NSG, ASG, and NRO enterprise architectures and mission environments.
  • Experience supporting transformational initiatives involving:
    • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
    • Multi-Cloud Architectures
    • Edge Computing / Edge Node Technologies
  • Experience leading cross-organizational IPTs, working groups, or tiger teams.
  • Experience leading large-scale enterprise transition and modernization efforts.
  • Experience conducting engineering analyses from project initiation through executive-level recommendation briefings.
  • Proficiency with Agile project management tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • SAFe certifications or related Agile credentials.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), associated methodologies, modeling tools, and engineering languages.
