Microchip’s Data Center Solutions Business Unit (DCS) offers industry leading performance, reliability, and security for PCIe Switches, Re-timer, Smart Storage Controllers, RAID Controllers, SAS/SATA IO Controllers, SAS Expanders, and NVME Controllers.

Our Applications Engineering Team is responsible for working closely with the Product Development Teams, Product Validation Teams, Marketing Teams, and Sales Teams to enable our Tier 1 storage/data center customers to bring their solutions to market. We work with leading edge technology that gets deployed in data center, machine-learning/AI, and storage applications. We engage with customer engineering teams to assist in design wins, product ramp, and system production.  Responsibilities:

• Support, manage, and maintain hardware for processor-based storage integrated circuits and reference designs.
• Work closely with Tier 1 OEMs and their ODMs to define requirements, manage deliverables, assist with new product design wins, and support initial system bring-up to full production
• Understand customer architectures and HW designs to closely work with engineering in providing timely customer technical support of post-production products.
• Work independently, and in a team environment
• Root cause customer issues in a timely manner independently or by leading a cross-functional team
• Develop and review customer level documentation including user guides, release notes, technical product training, reference designs, and application notes
• Understand customer requirements and drive them through the project management process
• Travel within China and internationally, as needed to work at customer sites to debug systems, involving software and firmware for the market leading Microsemi server/storage devices product lines

Requirements/Qualifications:

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in EE, or CE
• >5 years of experience
• Good design skills
  • High Speed Signal Integrity, Board Design experience
  • Experience with board-level debug & bring-up
• Strong technical leadership, teamwork, communication, and presentation skills
• Experience with bench top equipment such as protocol analyzers/exercisers, logic analyzers, and other storage or networking related test equipment

Ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams and across multiple geographical locations 

Desired Qualifications:

• Expertise in PCIe and SAS
• Experience with mass storage firmware and software
• Strong system design skills
• Experience working with Marketing and Sales teams
• Project management experience
• Experience with RISC based embedded processors (MIPS preferred)
• Past work with Unix & Wintel drivers and experience in FW development with light weight embedded kernels (ThreadX, VxWorks, eCos, etc.)
• Strong debugging skills and experience with kernel (Windbg), JTAG, serial port
