General Studies Adjunct- English Description
Under the direction of the General Studies Department Chair, the Adjunct Instructor of English will provide on-campus instruction for General Studies courses including: English Composition and English Composition w/Research. Instructors update course syllabi, develop lesson plans, develop presentation materials, communicate with faculty lead on subject matter, and evaluate student's progress.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop instructional materials to facilitate student learning outcomes for the course.
- Collect all assessment data related to student learning outcomes.
- Maintain an equitable system of student evaluation based on sound practices in accordance with the course syllabus.
- Return all graded assignments in a reasonable time frame according to South College Faculty Expectations.
- Project an appropriate professional image.
- Enforce all South College rules and policies.
Requirements
Education
- A minimum of an acceptable master’s degree in English, or
- An earned master’s or doctoral degree and satisfactory completion of 18 graduate semester hours in English
- Doctorate preferred
Experience
- Experience teaching English in the higher education setting.
- Experience in ground and online instruction preferred.
- Proficient in the written and oral communication of the English language
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
