Team Overview:
Baird’s Corporate Accounting and Finance team provides accurate and timely financial information to aid in the management of the firm and support strategic decision-making. Finance has a track record of success with interns across their various teams, all of who have the ability to directly contribute to the success of the department. Interns apply business knowledge gained in the classroom to develop relevant professional experience while developing meaningful relationships. Learn more about the team here.
Internship Location, Availability, and Hours:
Located in our downtown Milwaukee office, interns must be flexible to work onsite a minimum of 15-20 daytime hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters and 37.5-40 daytime hours per week during breaks and summer. We are looking for students who can start as soon as Fall 2026. Start date is flexible.
As an Accounting Intern, you will:
- Assist with the monthly close process which may include journal entries, variance analysis, and reconciliations
- Compile financial information for internal and external reporting. May also assist in the budgeting process
- Maintain and document policies and procedures
- Perform special projects and other duties, as assigned
- Assist with training of other interns
What we look for:
- Pursuing a bachelor's or master’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related business degree
- Anticipated graduation date of December 2026 or later
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively as a team player
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities and meet specific deadlines
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and reliability with a drive for continuous improvement
- Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
