Description
The purpose of this position is to bridge the line of communication between the residents of this community and the City of Coral Gables Community Recreation Department by providing residents with a parks liaison whose mission is to ensure the cleanliness and safety of all City of Coral Gables parks. The incumbent will oversee and coordinate the deployment of park service attendants and schedule weekly visits to all parks to document maintenance needs, perform playground safety audits, report acts of vandalism, interact with residents and park users, promote park safety and encourage the positive use of public space. The incumbent is to exercise considerable independent initiative and judgment under the general supervision of the Community Recreation Golf Course and Parks Maintenance Superintendent, Director and Assistant Director. The presence of a Park Ambassador will enhance safety for park users, provide a presence to deter crime, and encourage the community to take a proactive approach in maintaining the integrity and intended use of parks and green space.
Develops, organizes and supervises daily work schedules, tasks, park routes, and objectives for all Parks Service Attendants.
Provides training and safety orientations to Park Service Attendants.
Serves as an on-the-ground liaison for residents, park users, vendors, contractors and permitted birthday party rentals or events to ensure a positive park experience for all.
Coordinates with Park Service Attendants, Parks Maintenance, Public Works and Police to ensure the cleanliness and safety of all parks.
Performs monthly inspections and safety audits of all parks, playgrounds and general park equipment.
Issues work orders and responds professionally and in a timely fashion to resident inquiries, concerns and complaints.
Communicates routine park ordinances, rules, regulations, policies and practices to the general public.
Enforces routine park ordinances, rules, regulations, policies and practices including, but not limited to the viewing and verifying of photography and park/picnic rental permits. Performs general security of parks & grounds.
Tracks usage and daily activity of parks.
Receives and/or prepares various reports, work orders and other documents as required. Responds to routine requests for information from supervisors, the general public or other individuals.
Perform other related tasks as required.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Six (6) months of experience performing parks maintenance, park security and/or customer service duties required.
CPR/First Aide/AED certification required.
Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) preferred.
A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirement.
Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
