Overview
The Powder Coat Technician II performs routine and repetitive tasks associated with pre and post coating operations. Duties include finishing work, hand deburr, parts cleaning, parts routing, basic drill and tap work, masking and/or racking parts to be painted, and operating various machines/equipment in the assigned area.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sets up and operates painting equipment in production area and performs various secondary activities within assigned area with minimal supervision:

- Inspects assigned work, achieves and maintains quality and productivity standards, and follows safety guidelines. Uses required PPE (personal protective equipment) and not pose risk to self or others.
- Interpret job-related blueprint work orders, production order checklists, method sheets to standard.
- Safely and efficiently route parts using material handling equipment.
- Actively engages and participates in department continuous improvement efforts. Implements improvements to processes, programs, tooling and fixturing.
- Works collaboratively within the team to maintain a neat and organized workstation.
- Understands and completes documentation needed to comply with policies and procedures appropriate for the position.
- May train less experienced Powder Coating Technicians.
- May perform pretreatment duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be able to fulfill the requirements of a Powder Coat Technician I.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English with demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions and troubleshoot problems when necessary. Actively participate in pass down communication to other shift peers and leadership.
- Demonstrated manual dexterity required.
- Demonstrates basic knowledge of ISO procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively inspect assigned work and the work of others using blueprints and measuring tools such as electronic coating thickness testers, gauges or special equipment as required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of most common tooling types, and ability to identify most common material types.
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic shop math calculations.
- Demonstrated computer skills are required.
Education and Experience
- Typically requires 1-2 years of Powder Coat manufacturing experience.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively. Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift. Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and /or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.
Ability to wear respiratory protection and comply with OSHA’s respirator use requirements.
