Overview
The Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL are searching for a PAID Broadcast/Public Relations Intern for the 2026-27 season. This position requires a candidate to be motivated to build professional relationships with media & broadcast partners, commit to the team's betterment through external communication, assist & participate in on-air opportunities, and help build the K-Wings brand through social media creativity and execution. The right candidate will interact with players, coaches, staff, and media members during the season-long position (September thru April / end of season).
Strong writing skills and working knowledge of Adobe Suite are necessary. Broadcast experience is also preferred but isn’t required. This position directly reports to the Director of Broadcasting and Public Relations.
What You'll Be Doing
Hone and improve the skills needed to work in professional public relations and sports production: writing, producing, editing, broadcasting, interviewing and technical skills
Work odd hours with motivation and efficiently during weekly scheduling
Assist with Social Media manager (graphics, articles, promotional schedule and press releases)
Create and distribute gameday content & other required information to teams, coaches, and officials
Maintain statistical information via established systems and processes
The Broadcast & Public Relations Assistant assists PR & Broadcasting Director with a multitude of production and administrative duties throughout the 2024-2025 ECHL season
Other duties as assigned
What You Need For This Position
Strong motivation to take the next step in professional sports career
Maintain a high level of motivation; self-starter
Interest in public relations / broadcasting / writing / Social Media Management
Base knowledge of professional hockey
Motivated attitude and professional appearance
Working knowledge in Adobe Creative & social media skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Must be available from August / September – end of the season (including playoffs)
