About the Team
The Color team drives color excellence across product categories by establishing and maintaining global color standards, enabling digital color capabilities, partnering with suppliers, and ensuring consistent execution from design intent through bulk production.

About the Role

The Color Specialist is a professional individual contributor who independently manages assigned color approvals, supplier communication and day-to-day color workflows within agreed operational objectives. Working with general direction on ongoing assignments and more detailed guidance for newly introduced or unfamiliar work, the role applies visual and instrumental color evaluation, resolves a range of straightforward color and process issues using established methods, and aligns material exceptions or trade-offs with the Senior Color Manager or relevant decision owner. For Amsterdam / Global HQ scope, the role also performs defined Color Librarian responsibilities, including maintaining the PLM Corporate Color Library, physical Color Lab, color standards, naming and codes, seasonal setup, data accuracy and routine color translation for Design, Product Development and Footwear.

Key Responsibilities

Including but not limited to

  • Independently manage assigned color submissions, including Lab Dips, Strike-offs, Salesman Samples, Bulk and other applicable submissions, through the approval workflow; ensure suppliers use the correct official color standards and references and that agreed timelines, documentation and escalation routes are followed.
  • Apply established color standards, tolerances and guidelines to make day-to-day approval decisions within assigned scope, escalating commercial exceptions, unfamiliar assignments and complex or unusual color issues when needed.
  • Evaluate color through visual assessment and instrumental measurement, analyze straightforward issues and select appropriate solutions using established methods; ensure decisions are accurate, consistent and properly documented.
  • Manage regular supplier communication for assigned categories or regions, provide clear and timely comments, follow up corrections and improve submission completeness, image quality and consistent use of the global color process.
  • Manage assigned DMIX workflows and related PLM information, resolve straightforward missing-job, duplicate-job and data issues within established processes, and maintain accurate approval history, status and traceability.
  • Build productive working relationships with Design, Product Development, Raw Materials, Quality, Sourcing, regional teams and suppliers to resolve day-to-day approval topics and communicate implications for timing, quality or color feasibility.
  • Independently manage immediate priorities across changing seasonal demands within agreed objectives; adapt own plans and methods as business needs, systems or processes evolve, anticipate practical impacts on timelines and stakeholders, surface capacity or dependency risks early, propose sequencing options and align material trade-offs with the Senior Color Manager or relevant decision owner while maintaining quality and realistic commitments.
  • Review recurring color approval issues and supplier KPI trends using established methods; recommend practical improvements to supplier follow-up, data quality, system use and working methods, and support updates to checklists and standard operating procedures.
  • Support digital color adoption, standardization and supplier capability activities, contribute to training or process updates, and support less-experienced colleagues on defined processes or tasks without formal people-management responsibility.
  • For Amsterdam / Global HQ scope, perform defined Color Librarian responsibilities, including day-to-day maintenance of the PLM Corporate Color Library and physical Color Lab, color standards, seasonal setup, naming and codes, data accuracy, duplicate checks and library clean-up; support reference searches and early color feasibility, and translate WGSN forecasts, swatches and selected color cards into suitable Archroma, Pantone or CSI standards using visual and spectral evaluation, escalating complex or unclear cases when needed.

  • Practical experience with color approval, supplier communication and/or textile production in a global or multi-supplier environment.
  • Practical knowledge of laboratory dyeing processes, official color standards, production color control and digital color approval workflows.
  • For Amsterdam / Global HQ scope, experience with color libraries, physical standards, PLM color data, routine color matching or color translation is advantageous.

Skills

  • Plans and prioritizes immediate workload effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment; adapts own approach to evolving priorities and revised ways of working, anticipates practical impacts, raises capacity or dependency constraints early and maintains quality and realistic commitments.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to connect visual and digital color information and, for Amsterdam / Global HQ scope, support standard matching, library and reference activities.
