Shop Technician
Diagnoses, maintains, and repairs aggregate equipment safely and reliably in the shop. DEPARTMENT Service REPORTS TO Shop Supervisor or Service Manager LOCATION Assigned Goodfellow Location DATE 09/11/2026
Position Purpose
The Shop Technician inspects, diagnoses, services, and repairs rock crushing equipment, conveyors, and related machinery at a Goodfellow shop. This position performs preventive maintenance, mechanical repair, belt work, welding, and fabrication while maintaining a safe, orderly workplace and providing dependable support to customers and coworkers.
Responsibilities
Own Safety in Shop Work
•
Take ownership of personal safety and safe execution of assigned work, including stopping work when equipment, lifting plans, tools, or conditions are unsafe.
•
Follow Goodfellow procedures for lockout and tagout, stored energy, machine guarding, lifting and rigging, hot work, personal protective equipment, and housekeeping.
•
Inspect tools, meters, gauges, lifting equipment, and work areas before use and report hazards or damaged equipment promptly.
•
Maintain clear aisles, organized work areas, controlled parts and fluids, and safe placement of equipment under repair.
Diagnose and Repair Equipment
•
Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mobile rock crushers, screens, conveyors, and related aggregate-processing equipment.
•
Read and apply basic electrical and hydraulic schematics and use meters, gauges, and technical information to isolate faults.
•
Measure components accurately using calipers, feeler gauges, tape measures, and other appropriate instruments.
•
Communicate findings, repair needs, progress, and technical questions clearly to supervisors, customers, and factory support.
Perform Maintenance and Fabrication
•
Complete preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and replacement of bearings, wear parts, and other components.
•
Inspect equipment for damage, misuse, abnormal wear, leaks, or developing failures and document findings accurately.
•
Change, repair, track, tension, or splice conveyor belts using approved methods and equipment.
•
Perform basic welding, cutting, and fabrication repairs on hoppers, guards, supports, and related steel components.
Support Quality and Customer Service
•
Review work orders and confirm that repairs, parts, testing, and documentation are complete before equipment is released.
•
Protect customer and company equipment and maintain accurate records of labor, parts, inspections, and completed work.
•
Assist coworkers with shop priorities and contribute to efficient workflow, quality repairs, and positive customer relationships.

Qualifications
•
High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant technical experience.
•
Mechanical aptitude and experience diagnosing, maintaining, or repairing heavy, industrial, construction, mining, or aggregate equipment.
•
Ability to read basic electrical and hydraulic schematics and safely use meters, gauges, precision-measuring tools, hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment.
•
Basic welding, cutting, fabrication, conveyor-belt, bearing, or wear-part experience.
•
Knowledge of safe work practices around heavy equipment, stored energy, suspended loads, and moving machinery.
•
Clear communication, documentation, troubleshooting, teamwork, and customer-service skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This position works in an active indoor and outdoor shop environment and may be exposed to weather, heat, cold, noise, dust, welding fumes, sparks, oils, sharp materials, moving machinery, forklifts, and heavy equipment. The employee must be able to stand and walk for

extended periods; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, push, and pull; and safely lift and move up to 50 pounds. Required personal protective equipment must be worn.
Travel and Schedule
This is a full-time position, typically 40 hours per week. Routine travel is not expected, though occasional travel to another Goodfellow location, customer site, vendor, or training event may be required. Overtime or schedule changes may be necessary based on service needs.
Work Authorization and Security Clearance
