Junior Software Engineer

Description

Markon is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to support an Intelligence Community client in McLean, Virginia. This position will design, develop, integrate, test, deploy, and maintain mission-focused software applications across Sponsor networks and cloud environments. The Software Engineer will work throughout the full Agile software development lifecycle, supporting application enhancements, software integrations, APIs, reusable libraries, testing, and operational reliability.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify application source code in response to new requirements and requests for change.
• Provide application bug fixes, enhancements, and Graphical User Interface (GUI) improvements to meet operational requirements.
• Develop and deploy software applications across Sponsor environments, including cloud-based environments.
• Design and develop Representational State Transfer (REST) APIs.
• Integrate externally developed code into core software libraries.
• Install and configure application software.
• Evaluate third-party vendors and software partners.
• Maintain the design and architecture of software libraries, including module APIs, code organization, and compliance with established coding standards.
• Emphasize modularity, reusable code, clean interfaces between subsystems, and overall design integrity.
• Coordinate with configuration management personnel to integrate externally developed software into core software libraries.
• Develop a wide range of software for deployment on Sponsor networks.
• Develop and support software libraries involving technologies such as audio/video, image-processing algorithms, operating systems and file systems, and device drivers.
• Assist the Sponsor in developing standards, methods, and procedures for determining product quality, release readiness, and software acceptance.
• Conduct testing throughout all levels of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Perform regression testing and adhere to established testing procedures.
• Support Agile software development practices throughout the full application lifecycle.
• Track and manage software issues using tools such as JIRA.
• Provide metrics on software availability and reliability during monthly status reviews.

Qualifications

Required:

• An Active TS/SCI with a FS Polygraph is required to be considered.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or another related scientific or technical discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years of software engineering experience within the last 5 years.
• Demonstrated experience with at least 3 of the following technologies:
  • .NET.
  • Visual Basic.
  • Java.
  • JavaScript.
  • Tomcat.
  • SQL.
  • XML.
  • Python.
  • HTML.
  • LDAP certificates.
  • Apache.
  • Ruby.
• Collectively, the team must demonstrate experience across all of the technologies listed above.
• Demonstrated experience supporting full-lifecycle Agile software development projects.
• Demonstrated experience with software issue-tracking tools such as JIRA.

Desired:

• Demonstrated experience developing Android applications.
• Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and maintaining applications within AWS/Sponsor cloud computing environments.
• Working knowledge of GIS software, including Google Maps and Google Earth.
• Demonstrated experience with Continuous Software Development and Software Integration best practices.
• Experience working with Information Security (INFOSEC) and Information Assurance (IA) policies, including ICD 503, to support system security and data integrity.
• Demonstrated experience implementing the complete DevOps lifecycle, including:
  • Build pipeline integration.
  • Automated deployments.
  • Compliance scanning.
  • Test-driven development.

Salary Range

USD $140,000.00 - USD $170,000.00 /Yr.The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
