Job Description
Responsible for collecting and analyzing data in support of research projects and studies within Saint Luke’s Health System (SLHS). Works under the direction and oversight of the Principal Investigator/Research Physician. Develops methods and procedures for the collection and analysis of clinical data that address the project and/or study objectives laid forth in applicable study protocols. As experience is gained, demonstrates ability to make innovative recommendations to Principal Investigator/Research Physician that furthers accomplishment of research objectives. Demonstrates proficiency in using data tools which may include spreadsheets, Electronic Data Capture Systems, Electronic Medical Records Systems, statistical analysis software, and imaging model interfaces. Ensures patient health and identification information is kept confidential and secure in accordance with HIPAA laws. Ensures the integrity of the data collected and analyzed through adherence to applicable regulations, guidelines, and study protocols. May contribute to the authorship of documents such as manuscripts, protocols, and proposals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assimilate research objectives as directed by a SLHS Principal Investigator/Research Physician to develop tools and procedures for the collection and analysis of medical research data
Develop and implement a set of techniques or analytics applications to transform raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software
Demonstrate competency in the use of electronic systems such as spreadsheets, statistical analysis tools, database, and imaging and visualization modelling tools
Apply data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets
Apply knowledge of health care, medical terminology, disease processes, research methods, and database management to collect, analyze, visualize, interpret, and report clinical data findings
Demonstrate proficiency in Information Technology processes including hardware requirements and system programing
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication in presenting research findings to SLHS Research Teams and contributing to the authorship of manuscripts
Demonstrate knowledge of HIPAA and patient privacy regulations particularly as it pertains to the collection and handling of patient data used for research
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, biology, chemistry, or a healthcare related field
Knowledge of US, EU and International regulatory standards, and GxP guidelines for the conduct of human subject clinical research
