Job Description Summary
The Associate Data Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the MUSC Foundation’s fundraising and engagement operations through strategic data management, systems administration, and process optimization. This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity, usability, and performance of the Foundation’s CRM and related data systems while ensuring accurate, reliable, and actionable information for fundraising, stewardship, finance, and leadership teams.This role serves as a technical and operational partner across Advancement Services, supporting data governance, reporting, integrations, analytics, and end-user support. The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills with a service-oriented mindset and a passion for data quality, process improvement, and operational efficiency. This role helps ensure the Foundation can effectively engage donors, support fundraising strategy, and advance the mission of improving patient care, research, and education at Medical University of South Carolina through philanthropy.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
30% Reporting & Analytics
Support reporting and analytics initiatives by maintaining clean, structured, and reliable data.
Assist in the development of queries, reports, and data extracts for Advancement leadership and fundraising teams.
Perform data imports, exports, transformations, and reconciliations as needed.
25% Database Administration & System Performance
Monitor system functionality, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate resolutions with internal stakeholders and vendor partners.
Support database configuration, system enhancements, testing, and implementation of new functionality.
Maintain documentation for database processes, business rules, imports, exports, and system procedures.
20% Data Integrity, Governance & Security
Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of donor, constituent, and fundraising data.
Develop and enforce data standards, validation procedures, and quality assurance practices.
Conduct regular audits, cleanup projects, and deduplication efforts to improve overall data health.
15% Integrations & Technical Infrastructure
Support integrations between the CRM and related platforms including event management, email marketing, digital engagement, and financial systems.
Assist with ETL processes, automation workflows, and API-based data exchanges.
Identify opportunities to improve business processes, data workflows, and operational efficiencies across Advancement Services.
10% Cross-Functional Collaboration & User Support
Serve as a key resource for database users across Development, Stewardship, Finance, and Advancement Services.
Provide training, troubleshooting, and support for database users at all levels.
Translate business needs into technical solutions and communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.
Support special projects, system initiatives, and strategic data efforts as assigned.

Additional Job Description
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and/or relevant work experience and 3-5 years of related professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
Experience working with CRM systems, databases, or fundraising data environments.
Support recurring data imports, exports, record updates, and data maintenance processes.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across teams.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience with Raiser’s Edge NXT, Blackbaud CRM, Salesforce, or similar advancement platforms.
Experience in healthcare, higher education, or nonprofit fundraising environment.
Familiarity with HIPAA, PCI, and institutional data-security standards.
Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools.
Knowledge of fundraising operations, gift processing, and constituent data management.
