Description
The Loan Associate will support the internal loan administrative agent team functional responsibilities including loan closings, settlements, servicing, and portfolio administration for syndicated and participated loan investments across multiple investment strategies, including but not limited to direct and opportunistic asset-based lending, middle market direct lending, growth lending, and NAV lending. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret loan and legal documentation, and a customer service mind-set focused on effective collaboration with internal teams, external partners, borrowers, and lenders to ensure accurate and timely execution across the loan lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Loan Closings, Settlements, and Documentation
- Support loan closings by coordinating funding requirements, reviewing settlement instructions, and confirming required documentation is complete before transactions are booked.
- Interpret complex loan agreements and related legal documentation to accurately establish loan structures, participation interests, assignment allocations, and contractual terms in settlement processing and portfolio accounting systems.
- Partner with internal stakeholders, legal counsel, lenders, borrowers, and external service providers to obtain, validate, and organize loan documentation throughout the loan lifecycle.
- Support onboarding of deal assets and allocated positions, including establishing and maintaining accurate security master data to support downstream settlement, servicing, accounting, and reporting processes.
Servicing and Portfolio Administration
- Manage administrative agent responsibilities for syndicated and participated loans, including preparing, reviewing, and distributing rate set notices, interest and fee statements, principal paydown notifications, facility amendments, and borrower and lender communications.
- Analyze and monitor agent notices, borrower activity, and contractual events to ensure timely and accurate updates to portfolio accounting systems.
- Maintain data integrity and support compliance with governing agreements, servicing standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
Reconciliation, Controls, and Process Improvement
- Complete daily cash reconciliations between banking platforms and portfolio accounting systems, investigating and resolving variances to support accurate financial reporting and operational controls.
- Identify operational risks, recommend process improvements, and support continuous enhancement of servicing and settlement operations.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives, operational improvement projects, system implementations, and other departmental priorities as assigned.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Support
- Collaborate with deal teams, treasury, corporate and fund accounting, legal, compliance, asset management, credit and portfolio risk, and other business partners to facilitate efficient loan closings, settlements, servicing, and corporate and investor reporting.
- Build productive working relationships through clear communication, professionalism, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client and stakeholder service.
- Manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, and sound judgment.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a concentration in finance or accounting from an accredited four-year university
- 3-5 years of experience in loan operations, loan servicing, fund operations, investment operations, banking, accounting, or a related financial services function.
- Demonstrated customer service mindset and strong relationship management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to review and interpret legal, financial, and loan documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data review, analysis, and reconciliation.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Flexibility and ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and comfort adapting to changing priorities, new processes, and evolving business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with portfolio accounting, loan servicing, or investment operations systems such as CLS/ACBS, Allvue, WSO, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with syndicated loans, participated loans, private credit, asset management, or alternative investment operations.

Annual base salary gross: $75,000 - $85,000 (IL only). The base salary range represents the estimated low and high end of ORIX’s salary for this position based on geography. Actual base salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base pay is one component of ORIX’s total compensation package for employees.
