At the heart of our Maison's creative vision, the Senior Designer, Soft Accessories & Print will lead the concept and development of our iconic soft accessories and print collections. This pivotal role is instrumental in shaping categories that are deeply integral to our heritage, renowned for their unparalleled craftsmanship and distinctive aesthetic. You will be tasked with the seasonal evolution of our soft accessories (e.g., scarves, ties, pocket squares) and the creation of unique print, textile and embroidery narratives across various product categories, respecting the timeless approach to the Maison's legacy through a highly qualitative and subtle approach to design for our discerning global clientele. This involves extensive collaboration with the fabric and product development teams, footwear and RTW teams, thoughtful design with exceptional attention to material, print technique, proportion, detail, and finish. Close collaboration with our key suppliers while maintaining an evolved English expression in luxury menswear.
Directly responsible for:
- Soft Accessories – Scarves (woven and printed), Ties (print and jacquard), Pocket Squares, Hats, (cut and sew and moulded) Gloves, Neckerchiefs, Braces, Socks, Evening/Cocktail accessories (bow ties / cummerbunds)
- Seasonal Print/Textiles Collections for various product categories (e.g., Ready-to-Wear, Footwear)
- Novelty textile and/or embroidery design for footwear.
- Custom commissions for VIPs involving soft accessories, bespoke print applications, footwear novelties.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?
- Research & Concept: As a central role in the design team, provide comprehensive research, working closely with the Chief Creative Officer and the Menswear design and fabric team, to define seasonal colour palettes, print/textile stories, material development for soft accessories, creation of seasonal mood boards and presentation rigs. Drive the design and fabric to sketch process, ensuring all are aligned with the Maison's overarching creative strategy.
- Collection Development: Take full ownership of the design and meticulous management of the soft accessories and print design process, from initial concept through to final approval and production of exquisite samples. Ensure the highest standards of craftsmanship, material quality, print execution, proportion, detail, and finish. Adhere to the critical path in close partnership with the fabric and product development teams. Be available to travel to both British and Italian suppliers for both research and collection development.
- Creative Partnership: Work in direct collaboration with the Chief Creative Officer, and Design and Fabric team to establish seasonal visual codes and narrative, ensuring seamless coordination through every stage of the design and development process, reflecting the Maison's brand platform.
- Collaboration with Merchandising: Partner with Merchandising to ensure the fusion of the aesthetic vision and commercial strategy, respecting the collection architecture as outlined in the seasonal menswear brief for soft accessories and print.
- Material & Print Excellence: Collaborate with our dedicated Fabric development team and external partners to select and develop the most tasteful, refined, and qualitative materials (e.g., silks, cashmeres, fine leathers), print and jacquard techniques. Develop unique patterns and colourways with a highly attuned sense of heritage and contemporary relevance, reflecting the aesthetic values of the Maison brand platform.
- Development Cycle: The maternity cover role will cover the SS28, AW28 and SS29 collections. Maintain continuous liaison and coordination with Merchandising and Product Development throughout the entire product development cycle, ensuring design intent for soft accessories and prints is perfectly executed.
- Technical Artistry: Work closely with garment and product technical teams to ensure fits on soft accessories, finishes on soft accessories, precise print repeats, colour matching, fabric suitability, construction details, and optimal finishing specifications for all soft accessories and print / textile applications.
- Brand Aesthetic: Constantly strive for a profound expression of English style and taste in all decision-making on all aspects of the role, particularly in the nuanced design of soft accessories and the sophisticated application of prints.
- Collection Presentation: Prepare and deliver impactful presentations of seasonal soft accessories and print collections to key stakeholders. Be available to travel to work on and take responsibility on all soft accessories for key presentation dates in Italy (January ’27, June ’27, January ’28)
- Showroom Curation: Contribute to the meticulous set-up and presentation of showrooms, reflecting the Maison's elevated brand image, with a focus on how soft accessories and prints enhance the overall collection.
- Collection Styling & Visual Storytelling: Play a supporting role in the styling of collections for shows, collection presentations, and marketing campaigns, ensuring a consistent styling narrative that highlights soft accessories and print elements.
- Resource Stewardship: Demonstrate a keen awareness and responsible management of sample budgets and role-related expenditure for soft accessories and print/textile developments.
