Position Summary
Full-time position
The Journeyperson - Licensed is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and optimization of hospital building systems and infrastructure. Working within an acute care environment, the successful candidate will support the safe and reliable operation of critical mechanical, HVAC, utility, automation, and facility systems that are essential to patient care and hospital operations.
The successful candidate will possess a strong technical background in one or more of the following disciplines:
- Industrial Millwright
- Stationary Engineer / Power Engineer
- HVAC Technician
- Building Automation Systems (BAS) Specialist with demonstrated HVAC experience
Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and responding to alarms, trends, and operational issues through the Building Automation System (BAS).
- Performing preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on hospital infrastructure and equipment.
- Troubleshooting and repairing HVAC, mechanical, building automation, and facility systems.
- Maintaining pumps, motors, air handling units, fans, hydronic systems, heating and cooling equipment, generators, and associated infrastructure.
- Supporting the operation and maintenance of critical utility and emergency power systems.
- Utilizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders, document repairs, and support preventative maintenance activities.
- Assisting with plumbing, HVAC, millwrighting, electrical, carpentry, and general mechanical work as required.
- Coordinating with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders as required.
- Responding to facility-related emergencies and equipment failures.

Qualifications
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) required.
- Post-secondary technical diploma/degree or licensed trade in a relevant field required.
- Preference will be given to candidates with one or more of the following:
- Industrial Millwright (433A)
- HVAC Technician (313A or equivalent)
- Stationary Engineer / Power Engineer Certification
- Building Automation Systems (BAS) Specialist with demonstrated HVAC experience
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a healthcare, institutional, industrial, commercial, construction, or maintenance environment required.
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical building systems required.
- Demonstrated ability to assess mechanical and HVAC malfunctions and independently implement corrective actions required.
- Minimum 3-5 years working with a Building Automation System (BAS) required.
- Minimum 3-5 years working with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) preferred.
- Experience with pumps, motors, HVAC systems, controls, generators, and associated mechanical equipment preferred.
- Experience supporting critical infrastructure, utility systems, or plant operations preferred.
- Knowledge of building automation principles, energy management, and system optimization preferred.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods of time required.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination to ensure safe handling of all equipment required.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work assignments.
- Effective communication and planning skills.
- Demonstrated team player.
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required.
