About the role
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer I will perform a variety of activities related to the procurement of goods and services, including issuing purchase orders and processing internal requisitions. This role contributes to McCrometer's savings commitments by developing and managing cost reduction projects and activities under the guidance of the Purchasing Manager, optimizing spend by negotiating terms, conditions, and additional value, and identifying potential business partners through sourcing and supplier qualification.
This position is part of the Procurement Department, located in Hemet, CA.

In this role, a typical day will look like
Creating complete and accurate purchase orders from requisitions and for material replenishment.
Conferring with vendors for product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
Reviewing and approving claims against suppliers for unsatisfactory materials or equipment.
Expediting delivery of goods to users as required.
Evaluating price quotes and awarding business to suppliers based on Total Cost of Ownership.
Developing cost reduction projects and managing them to timely completion.
Establishing and maintaining beneficial supplier relationships.
Maintaining procurement files and records, and reviewing reports to identify needs and opportunities.
The essential requirements of the job include
High School Diploma or equivalent required; a Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management, or an equivalent of 3 to 5 years of work experience in Procurement, is preferred.
Working knowledge of Total Cost of Ownership and a strong focus on savings.
Proficiency with PC, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel (basic formulas and charts).
Experience with MRP, Oracle, or ERP systems and data analysis skills a plus.
Strong negotiation, organizational, and time management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Work environment
The Buyer I will work in an indoor, work or home office environment with good ventilation, adequate lighting, and moderate noise levels consistent with a manufacturing environment.

The compensation range for this role is $70,000 - $75,000 USD per year.We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
