Nurse Aide (Patient Driver)

The responsibility of the Patient Driver Nurse Aide is to provide care for the patients under the direction of the nursing and medical staff, by performing the following duties.

• Drive patients to and from appointments at doctor’s offices or hospital.
• Accompany disabled individuals to appointments.
• Wait with patients at doctor’s office and/or hospital.
• Assist doctors with exam (positioning of patient).
• Listen and document doctor’s recommendations and report to nurses on unit.
• Document patient’s consult sheet.
• Transport residents to and from units for appointments.
• Provide hands-on care of patients during inclement weather.
• Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• Valid Nurse Aide Certification.
• Current Certification in CPR.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Accurate and detail oriented.
• Ability to maintain confidential information and handle confidential matters.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong professional ethics.
• Demonstrates integrity and honesty.
• A valid driver’s license is required.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to walk and sit, stoop, kneel, crouch and climb stairs.    
 
Work Environment:

• The noise level is quiet to moderate.
• Will need to drive in all types of weather approximately 25% of the time.

• Ability to work extended hours, as required.
• Ability to work as part of a team (two CNA’s travel together to appointments with residents). 
• Ability to drive a station wagon or van.
