ELS is hiring for the position of Environmental Project Manager in Tampa, Florida.What you'll do:
The Environmental and Regulatory Compliance Project Manager in the [INSERT] area manages all regulatory compliance efforts for the Asset Management and Operations team, including environmental and operational oversight with respect safety and hazardous materials handling. This position ensures that all EPA, OSHA, NESHAP and ADA internal requirements are maintained and adhere to specific agency rules and regulations.
Your job will include:
Manage and advise on all regulatory compliance issues, including EPA, OSHA, NESHAP, ADA and all other relevant federal, state and local regulations.
Manage emergency and high priority demolition and renovation projects and ensure compliance with federal, state, company and local requirements with respect to safety and hazardous materials handling.
Supervise the work of outside contractors during the removal of asbestos, mold, lead and/or other hazardous waste and test to ensure adherence to federal, state and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
Maintain and improve standardized asbestos NESHAP operational procedures in compliance with environmental standards, interpret environmental disturbance risks and communicate with environmental regulatory authorities for compliance assistance.
Research, understand and apply government regulations related to hazardous materials and waste.
Coordinate with regulatory agencies about pollution and hazards.
Assist with development and upgrade project approval emails and memoranda.
Source and manage national vendor relationships for Environmental Services.
Train and educate the Asset Management and Operations teams on best practices and responsible environmental procedures.
Understand and advise on ADA protocol, procedures and lead compliance issues.
Experience & skills you need:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Science Technology, Watershed Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working knowledge of hazardous materials, including hazardous wastes, asbestos and other pollutants.
Ability to use critical thinking to analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations and use information to initiate changes that improve property performance.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent organizational, project management communications and leadership skills.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Experience interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handling several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts, including percentages, area, circumference and volume and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Effective and persuasive presentation skills, including the ability to clearly present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Familiarity with the concepts of financial statements and lease review.
Valid driver’s license, good driving record and current auto insurance.
Ability to travel up to 25%.
