Casualty Claims Manager - General Liability

An insurance organization is seeking an experienced Casualty Claims Manager to lead a team of claims professionals handling complex casualty claims. This leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring quality claims handling, mentoring and developing staff, and overseeing litigated and high-exposure claims. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical claims expertise with a proven ability to coach teams, improve processes, and deliver exceptional customer outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the daily operations of a casualty claims team.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance management to claims professionals.
• Monitor claim quality through file audits, claim reviews, and performance analytics.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance claim handling consistency and efficiency.
• Assist with complex coverage, liability, and settlement decisions.
• Review and approve reserves and settlements beyond adjuster authority levels.
• Identify and address potential fraud concerns and support investigative efforts.
• Oversee litigated claims and partner with defense counsel to develop effective litigation strategies.
• Analyze claims and litigation trends to identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost savings.
• Handle escalated customer, client, and stakeholder concerns.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and best practices.
• Utilize reporting tools and data analytics to monitor team performance and business results.
• Collaborate across departments and communicate effectively with senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of casualty claims experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of casualty claims, liability investigations, litigation management, coverage analysis, and settlement negotiations.
• Experience managing complex and litigated claims.
• Working knowledge of comparative negligence and liability laws.
• Proficiency with claims management systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical, communication, coaching, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
