About the Role
This role owns retention economics, LiveOps incentive efficacy (CPIN), the payment funnel, and virtual-economy/matchmaking policy for Skillz's India platform business, from Bangalore. Incentive spend against a ~$40M pool only compounds retention and NGR when it's held to a CPIN discipline — incentive $ per incremental NGR $ vs. a randomized holdout — rather than just tracked after the fact. It also owns the retention plan itself and represents finance directly in Product's roadmap for owned titles, so retention economics shape what gets built rather than just measuring it after the fact. As the only seat in this structure with a formal direct report (FP&A Analyst — LiveOps), this role also carries people-management accountability: setting that analyst's KPIs, coaching their development, and ensuring incentive-efficacy work scales across titles without funneling every decision through Head of Finance.
Main Responsibilities
-
Own retention economics (cohort D14/M1/M3+ curves) and LiveOps ROI & incentive efficacy (CPIN) against the ~$40M incentive pool.
-
Own the retention plan and represent finance in the product roadmap for owned titles, ensuring retention-economics input shapes roadmap prioritization rather than just measuring its results.
-
Own the payment-funnel conversion partnership with Platform & Key Services (deposits, withdrawals, gateways).
-
Shadow virtual-economy and matchmaking policy KPIs with VP Strategy.
-
Manage the Product Management business partnership across LiveOps titles.
-
Lead and develop the FP&A Analyst — LiveOps: set KPIs, coach, and review performance.
-
Flag when this seat's 6-area scope needs a split, using the same review cadence applied to the UA & Cohort Economics seat.
Key Competencies
-
CPIN fluency — comfortable modeling incentive $ per incremental NGR $ against a randomized holdout, per title and campaign.
-
Retention-plan fluency — able to translate cohort retention curves into a documented plan that changes product-roadmap decisions, not just describes them.
-
People leadership — coaches and develops a direct report while remaining accountable for their output; not just informal oversight.
-
Cross-functional leadership — builds and runs six-plus stakeholder relationships simultaneously without dropping cadence.
-
Data-driven decision making — uses CPIN, retention curves, and payment-funnel data to drive incentive-spend and roadmap calls, not just report on them.
-
Comfortable operating at Management-track scope: sets targets for a report rather than only executing analysis personally.
Experience
-
8+ years of experience in Business finance/FP&A, retention/growth finance, or a related analytical function within a fast-paced technology or consumer-facing environment.
-
Demonstrated people-management experience — has managed at least one direct report with documented performance and development ownership, not informal oversight.
-
Direct experience with incentive-efficacy or marketing-spend ROI modeling (CPIN-equivalent frameworks), ideally against a randomized holdout methodology.
-
Experience co-owning a retention plan or product roadmap input with a Product organization, not just consuming Product's output.
-
Proven track record of cross-functional leadership across five or more concurrent stakeholder relationships.
-
Gaming, media, or platform-business experience preferred.
-
Bachelor's degree; preference for degree in Business, Economics, or a quantitative field.
